Apparently, the castle was first called Nieszawa Castle after the town, Nieszawa, near to Torun, where it was located. The area around the castle thrived and Torun felt threatened by the competition of this new town. They persuaded the King to move the entire village of Nieszawa some miles away. You are right, John, that castle has marvelous history. The above link (you have to scroll down to the second feature) shows that the castle had a succession of names. I do not think it really answers your question and you may already have this information. But it is interesting and I wanted to share it with the group.
