Antoni was born in Bratkowka, Poland, on 23 February 1850, son of Jozef SLOWIK and Anna PIEKOS (daughter of Marcin PIEKOS and Joanna CEBULA). Date of marriage of Antoni and Tekla is unknown, but Tekla was daughter of Szymon SLOWIK and Katarzyna WILK. Between years 1874 to 1896, Antoni and Tekla had the following children: (some changed names to SLOWICK after emigration) 1) Jozef SLOWIK - 1874 - immigrated to Chicopee, Massachusetts, arriving via Ellis Island 17 June 1892 - married Carolina CYGAN 11 September 1893 in Chicopee - Carolina CYGAN immigrated through Ellis Island 6 July 1892, born about 1876 in Bajdy, Poland, daughter of Adalbert CYGAN and Catharina PICKOS 2) Marianna SLOWIK - 1876 - believed to have emigrated pregnant or with daughter, Anna SLOWIK - possibly settled in New York 3) Stanislaw/Stanley SLOWIK - 1879 - settled in Chicopee - married Maria STROBINSKI 4) Tomasz/Thomas SLOWIK - 1881 - unknown of whereabouts 5) Katarzyna/Katherine SLOWIK - 1884 - settled in Chicopee - married Ludwig JENDRUZIK 6) Jan/John SLOWIK - 1889 - believed settled in New York 7) Franciszek/Frank SLOWIK - 1892 - believed settled in New York 8) Piotr/Peter SLOWIK - 1894 - settled in New York City & buried there at St. Raymond's Cemetery - married Frances ??? 9) Wojciech/Albert SLOWIK - 1896 - believed to have stayed in Galicia The above listed children were confirmed as born in Bratkowka by a researcher over in Poland. However, an older living family member does not recall a Tomasz/Thomas, but remembers a Walter instead. Perhaps Thomas died young, stayed in Galicia, or changed his name to Walter later in life? 10) Walter SLOWIK - no confirmed birth record in Bratkowka - marriage in Chicopee to a Cecilia JURAS.
