Charles, I will do some checking, as my mother-in-law is related to the Polks. She is a Susalla, and a descendent of Francis Susalla, one of the first settlers and purchasers of land in Paris Township. (He probably came with Francis Polk.) I have a recent obituary on Gladys (Susalla) Cook which states that after they settled in Canada and helped with the railroads, the men migrated to Michigan where they proceeded to clear the land and put up log cabins. Once this was accomplished, they returned to Paris Township with the women and children. My father-in-law was a Cook, original name of Kucharczyk. Please feel free to contact me at my email address.
