    3. I am trying to trace the origins of my Podolski g.g.g.grandparents, Simon Podolski and Katharina Barbarsky. I have no dates or places re life events for either one. I have rather complete data on their descendants except for the exact dob and birthplace of their son, Simon born about 1787 in ?. Simon married in Apatin, Bacs Bodrog Hungary (now in Serbia). I have all pertinent info from the date of his marriage through subsequent generations. His son b. 1834 in Apatin was also named Simon and his son, b. 1871 in Apatin, was another Simon. This last Simon was my grandfather who came to the U.S. in 1910. He spoke German, Hungarian and Serbo-Croatian. Nothing I have indicates a Polish background except, of course, for the surname. It has been suggested to me that they might have been from Silesia; that he may have been a soldier who was sent to settle in Apatin as apparently some veterans were. I simply don't know where to begin looking and any suggestions for where/how I might begin to look for Simon and Katharina would be most appreciated. Beth Tolfree
