    3. If your family was of Polish ethnicity, in different time periods, their name would have been spelled Haiduk. In 1990, Rymut's study of surnames found 45 adults named Haiduk in Poland: Nazwisko Ogólna liczba Rozmieszczenie Haiduk 45 Wa:6, Ka:31, Op:7, Wr:1 Wa - warszawskie Ka - katowickie Op - opolskie Wr - wrocławskie Most were in southwest Poland. http://www.herby.com.pl/herby/indexslo.html There were several places named Peterswalde. If you know the county in which it was located, you can use http://www.kartenmeister to locate where the Lutheran, Catholic and civil records were records: http://www.kartenmeister.com/preview/databaseuwe.asp Once you know that you can determine if the LDS have any microfilmed records or if the archives have any records, which survived the wars. My family is John Heiduck married to Regina Carol (Kosky) John born 1855, Regina born Mar 1849 and one son Frank born 6 Feb 1884. They came to the states arriving in New York 6 Aug 1884. Another family believed to be from the same town as the above John is Frank and Annie Hydock departed Hamburg 2 Apr 1853 (I have their passenger list ) and it is where I found their residence as Peterwalde, Westpreufen. John and Regina are my gt grandparents and I would like to see if they can be found in Peterswalde. > > Thank you so much for whatever you can find. > > Patti Simpson Taylor > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to POLANDBORDERSURNAMES-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
