The reason it was called Plock gubernia because the county seat was in Plock. Plock was also were the archdiocese was located for the Catholic church in that area of Poland. It is still the Plock diocese. A many times great uncle was a bishop from that diocese in 1600. He died in 1632 and is buried in the King's chapel in the Plock Cathedral. There is a large monument in this chapel depicting his grave. Today Plock is an up and coming town.
