I never heard of until my children started school and both of my parents came from Poland. School made their " Pigs in Blanket" with a Hotdog with dough wrapped around. Quick and easy. Also kids wanted slices of cheese placed in the hotdog and then it was put in oven till hotdog was done and cheese melted. I'd say the American version.
