Marcin Szulc (Martin Schultz) was born, according to his Wisconsin obituary, on November 11, 1832, birthplace unknown. His first wife, Malgorzata (Margaret) Bannik was born about 1840. They were married November 4, 1860 in Grylewo parish. Both Marcin and Malgorzata were Catholic and from Laskownice. Marcin was listed as 25 years old at the time of his marriage-born in 1834 which differs from the birth year listed in his obituary. They had a son, Walenty( Valentine) born December 26, 1861 in Laskownice, Grylewo parish. Malgorzata died September 3, 1866 in Laskownice. Marcin married Katarzyna ( Catharina) Laskowska who was born about 1846. Her parents were Peter Laskowski and Constanncia Nowak. Marcin and Katarzyna were married January 27, 1867 in Golancz parish, Wagrowiec, Poznan. Their first child, my grandmother Josepha (Josephine) was born in Ohio in 1870. The family subsequently moved to Wisconsin. Additionally, we know that a Dorothea Szulc died in the Golancz parish on November 2, 1866 at age 75. I am hoping to verify that Dorothea is Marcin's mother and to find Marcin's birthplace and the name(s) and birthplaces of his parents and siblings. Much of the information about Marcin's "Polish" life has been found in the Poznan Project data. Various Wisconsin websites have given me information about Martin and his family in America. Any help and/or suggestions in furthering my research would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Fred Holzknecht
