    3. Chris & Mary, I noticed that he gave his mother married name as his relative in Poland. It's possible she remarried and he was known in Poland by her married named. His real father could have died and she remarried or she had him out of wedlock. He may have totally changed his name on a whim. Time and research will answer all the questions as to why this happened.
