Hello, I am interested in hearing from researchers who are familiar with or have family connections to the former village of Huta Samokleska (also known as Huta Pielgrzymska) which was located in the Carpathian Mountains of SE Poland. In my 11 years of family research, I never met nor corresponded with anyone else whose ancestors came from Huta. My Kiehart (Kichard)grandparents, Andrzej Kiehart and Justina (Kityk) Kiehart from Mayfield, PA were born in Huta . Huta no longer exists because the communists drove the families there out in 1945 and sold their homes "as building materials" to Polish residents elsewhere whose homes were damaged or destroyed in WW2. I have visited Poland five times since 2003 and have spent most of my time visiting the former location of Huta and interviewing elderly family and neighbors who once lived in Huta. The area of Huta is now included in Magurski National Park and is overgrown with forest. You can read about some of my visits to Huta at avillagecluster.com, a website about our Lemko ancestral villages that I work on with two ladies from NJ. There never were more than 19-20 homes in Huta in it's 200 year history. I have researched Huta at the Polish Archives and Registry Offices and have collected considerable information about Huta in that research and in the interviews I conducted in Poland. I have an 1850 map of Huta showing house locations, with resident names, and numerous photos, along with other information, that I am willing to share.
