Yesterday I received an email from a Kiwi who was helping her Dad locate a childhood friend from Poland. They were both displaced from their village of Chotyn during WWII. After a Google or two, a couple ancestry.com searchers, and referencing now declassified records, I was able to find and arrange an online reunion for Kazimierz, residing in Wisconsin, and Mieczyslaw of Wellington N.Z. - their first since 1946!
What a wonderful Christmas gift! Not only for Kazimierz and Mieczyslaw, but for us too! It's so wonderful, the gift you gave them. Hi, I am just beginning my family searches, don't even know enough to know what questions to ask yet!!! But I had to comment on this heartwarming reunion I just read! That is so wonderful. In a world filled with so many bad stories, this one sure blessed me. God Bless everyone who had a hand in getting those people back together again!. By the way, I am wanting to find information on the Plinske surname. I will have more time to write all the information I have after the Holidays. My grandfather on my mothers side was a Plinske, who came to America during some sort of persecution when he was a child with his parents. A relative remembered her Aunt Annie whose maiden name was Plinske say that they were some sort of Nobility, or something like that in Lithuania. I understand Aunt Annie also had a pretty vivid imagination, so who knows. Since various countries owned Lithuania at different times, I am not sure where to start looking. Happy New Year!
