Barbara, Thanks again. I'll have to get my wife up here to look at the site. She was born in Warsaw and came over with her family when she was nine. She still corresponds with cousins there, so she should be able to figure it out. The Polish - English dictionary also helps. I thought that it said there was a church in the village in 1710, but my understanding of Polish isn't good enough to ell you exactly what it says. Way back, someone mentioned my father's birthplace as Gdynia and someone else told me Lomza. I think you have just led me in the right direction. I'm going to Google Gielczyn and get started trying to find a parish in the town. >> John >> On Mar 23, 2010, at 1:26 PM, Barbara Karwowski wrote: >> >>> John, I just looked at your Grandfather's manifest listing and it indeed does include Łomża after Gelczyn, so I think that this combination of places seems likely to be the area to explore. There are two people named Gajewski and one Gajewska listed on ksiazka-telefoniczna.com, as currently living in Łomża. Giełczyn is only 3.5 miles south of Łomża. Good luck. >>> Barbara >>> On Mar 23, 2010, at 12:47 PM, Barbara Karwowski wrote: >>> >>>> John, >>>> There is a Giełczyn south of Łomża and about 7 miles south of Giełczyn is Duchny Stare.
