Grand parents STACHOWSKI, Ludwig, and RIEDNER, Susanna, in Belchatow, Petricow, Poland, about 1869. They must have left their ancestral home in Klesszczow (Susanna's birth place), Belkatow, Lods, Poland (probably with many other villagers), and lived in Popilowka, Vladimir Volinsk, Volhinia from 1870 on, where their 8 children were born. Here comes our difficulty: According to my uncle's 'story', Ludwig had one brother (Polar Explorer) and another (went to America). He allegedly was the son of "(Baron) Alex..... von Stachosk". (none of whom I could locate) What I did find in Porziewice, Belchatow, was a Jan Ludwig Stachowski, ( all his brothers died in infancy ), the oldest son of a Jan Ludwig. After about 20 years (on and off) researching, I still have not been able to find a successful link. I hope, a marriage record of Ludwig and Susanna (none found in Volhinia ) would state his parents. Also, there seem to be no known Protestant church records of Kleszczow of that time. (we tried to contact the matrices office in Warsaw for civil records, via e-mail, but got no response). Any help or further 'hint' would be greatly appreciated. Max
