Linda, Stick with it. I refused to give up. I'm still receiving emails from relatives here in America that cannot believe I found family in Poland. O those of little faith. It took me nearly 20 yrs to find my cousin that I wrote about finding this past weekend. Over the years I've written many letters and emails to priests and people with the same family names and people with different names but they lived in the same village and even nearby villages. Almost always I was ignored. I registered on every genealogy site I could find plus the social networks. Occasionally I would do searches using keywords like: surname + genealogy or surname + family tree. Doing this type of search sometimes will match with family trees in Europe. I found a real distant relative in Brazil yrs ago doing this. Every couple of months I would search for new genealogy sites and register. I would only put up an abbreviated family tree including family from around the time my grandparents came here, hoping somewhere someone was also searching from Poland. Don't be discouraged. Remember technology is changing everyday and everyday someone new is buying a computer and everyday new information is being added. Stick with, one day, you too will get that email or letter from Poland. And we will all share in that joy with you. I have sent out several email feelers but got no responses. --- On Mon, 2/1/10, Mary Snow <marysnow@bellsouth.net> wrote: From: Mary Snow <marysnow@bellsouth.net> Subject: Re: [PBS] Genealogy sites To: polandbordersurnames@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, February 1, 2010, 4:30 PM Hi, Linda, There are many existing mailing lists and message boards for people seeking information about ancestors; the information you seek may already be online. One way of searching family ancestral towns is to see if the records have been microfilmed by the Latter Day Saints. Using this place search, it is possible to see if there are records available: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp In the event there are no records microfilmed, the next source is to contact the ancestral parish to see what records are available. Various changes in Poland's borders can account for movement of your ancestors. Did you go to the town itself and not find any family members? Let us know what specific information you seek and members of this mailing list will try to help guide you in your search. Regards, Mary Linda Boris wrote: > I just registered an account on the site.
