Polish people use American sites. They runs searches using Google just like we do. Rootsweb and GenForum have mail lists and message boards for surnames and places. I've had better luck posting on message boards in finding family. There are message boards by country at rootsweb, old province and new province at http://boards.rootsweb.com/Default.aspx?o_iid=33216&o_lid=33216 GenForum has country boards and surnames: http://genforum.genealogy.com/. Search engines like Google do not normally pick up searches of mail lists, but they do for message boards. In most cases, my cousins in Poland have found me within two years of my posting searching for them. Mail lists are used more for learrning how to research.
