    2. Ellie Dowling
    3. Hi again, I did see those names somewhere before, but although my grandfather was Charles, I think his fathers name was Eugene, I was going through some more of the papers I have scribbled on and I think Eugene may have been born in 1864, in Germany, and died in 1916 in Bangor Michigan. I do know for sure Charles' mom was named Amelia or Emily Bearman or Berhman and it is spelled Behrman on her tomb stone in Mt. Hope Cemetery. It says she was born in 1866 and died in 1942. She remarried after her first husband Plinske to a man with the last name Williams I think. So I don't think they are my immediate family but could be related somehow. They did come from Germany to Cook County Il. Eugene and Amelia's kids are Charles, Annie, Martha, Louise, William, Clara and Lillian who was born Dec. 21, 1909. Charles and Anne died before I was born. Anne died in 1951 in October and is buried in Mt Hope Cemetery Evergreen Park, Illinois. My grandfather Charles was born May 11, 1885 in Memel, German (Prussia) and died the year I was born, April 1953. Stopped to dig through some more papers to find Grandpa's death, found a paper that someone typed that said a Grandma Plinske Raeder, who must have been the grandmother of Eugene told stories that the Plinske family came from some sort of nobility in Germany, or Lithuania.. I guess the whole family headed to America around 1894. I have no proof just this paper that someone typed that says Charles came to the US when he was 9 years old. My mom always said He was from Lithuania, so I am confused. By the way, thanks for writing back so quickly! I forgot to wish you a happy and Blessed New year! In digging I guess I have more info than I remembered. That's the other disadvantage in waiting till I was 56 to start looking..... I find a fact then forget what I've found, or where I put it. . I am trying to get organized, but I am an art oriented person, my brain isn't as used to dealing with facts and dates. My passion is dollhouse miniatures. This is a far cry from making an 1890's village in 1/12 scale.....Charles met and married my grandma Signe in Chicago, Il.. Maybe the Plinske family in Kansas is family somehow. I am going to check out the site address. I love a good mystery! My husband is a diabetic so, I am up all night testing his blood most nights, so he can keep working....long story... so most of my searching is in the middle of the night. I found a notation of why there are no family record. The farm in Bangor Michigan burned during the time Amelia was married to the Williams fellow and she lost all family pictures and papers to the fire. Thanks again my wonderful new friend, Ellie -------------------------------------------------- From: "marlo" <marlo50@bex.net> Sent: Sunday, December 27, 2009 10:00 PM To: <polandbordersurnames@rootsweb.com> Subject: [PBS] Plinske name > Ellie, there is a Plinske family in the 1900 census living in Lincoln Co > Madison Twp Kansas. Ellie, The information you seek will be in documents in the United States. Documentation will be your key to finding information. If you post where your grandfather lived and died, dates, names of wife, children, brothers, sisters, we may be able to jump start your search for you. The courthouse of the county where your father died will have his death certificate, which can give place of birth. Naturalization papers may be filed there, also. If you know the church he attended, you can contact the church for records, also. There was more than one Charles Plinske in census records (Kansas, Michigan, Connecticut, Wisconsin, Missouri, Chicago), so more specific information will help us help you. You can search at ancestry.com without cost. If you click on the link below, you can see what is available to know whether you wish to subscribe to see the information. Members of this list have subscriptions to various databases. Just let us know so we can try to get you started! http://www.ancestry.com/search/ Regards, Mary

    1. [PBS] Plinske name
    2. marlo
    3. Ellie, there is a Plinske family in the 1900 census living in Lincoln Co Madison Twp Kansas. They are father Charles born 1872, immigrated 1873. Rosa Plinske born 1876 in Illinois with 2 daughters, Julie born 1897 in Kansas and Clara born 1900 in Kansas. That is from record of ancestry. Immigration records show a family coming from Bremen to Baltimore arriving May 1873 on ship Sirius. they include father Heinrich age 28, mother Juliane age 32, son Albert 9, daughter Johanna age 3 and Carl age 6 months. I think many times Carl was changed to Charles in this country. They show they were going to Chicago. But the early records don't show much information. Could this be your family? I found this information in the Steve Morse records. The site is www.stevemorse.org It is better than the Ellis island records since they came into Baltimore. I did not find them in the 1880 census and did not look further than 1900. Too bad the 1890 records were destroyed. They might come in handy. Hope this is your family. Altho it probably does not give you much more than you already have. 3. Hi Marlo, Thanks so much for responding to my note. I am excited, but I'm so ignorant. I have been reading some of what people on these lists have to say and it is Greek to me so far. I have no idea how to find the lists of which they speak, much less how to go from the numbers they quote to actual information. I have gone to German sites, Polish, Swedish sites, and even some French sites that are supposed to have free information, but when I get to the sites, everything seems to have number codes and I have no idea how to go anywhere from there. The French site was the best for a new searcher and it whetted my appetite with a site with lots of free information about people with my family name. Of course for details I will have to pay, but it gave me hope. but the Swedish sites have me baffled. I have more names and information about people on the Swedish side, more accurate dates, and even the name of the town, Kalmar, but I hit brick walls. I signed up for the Poland border surnames because my maternal grandfather and his father before him were from Lithuania, but maybe Poland, maybe under German occupation at one time or another , and even under Russian occupation. So I have more directions to look than I can name, but I only have a surname to go on. Plinske, and a few family stories that may or may not be true. I know my grandfathers name, Charles Rollo Plinske, and his birth and death dates .but I want to find out more about his origins. And unfortunately most of my family and extended family is deceased. I'm a Heinz 57 sort of person, with all those nationalities mixed up in me, and as I am searching to leave this for my son someday, I also have to search Irish, English and Scottish ancestors on my husband side. All with very little money... My sister, my son, and my husband each gave me a little so I could join ancestry.com for 3 months. , but I'm afraid to join before I understand the process better, as I will have no time to waste on my subscription stumbling around in ignorance. Anyway, I'm hoping as I listen in on what others have to say I will gain an insight into how to begin my quest. If you have any advice or suggestions, I would be thrilled to to hear them. . I am hoping for a better year than the last one. This past year began in a horrible way, my husband Russ fell out of a tree and broke his back and neck. (He wasn't supposed to even be up that tree, but you know men!) After months of recovery He is thankfully back on his feet and working, but right after he got back to work, my 93 year old mom died, then right after that my brother who was my best friend died. Then a week ago one of my cats died. It has all triggered my look back when I realized there wasn't but one more person left that I could ask anything about ancestors. I think looking up ancestors in some ways brings them back to life. I shook me that only 2 generation back there was so little remembered about anyone. I know I don't want my parents forgotten by the generations to come, because they were wonderful people. Hence the search was on!... Anyway, thanks again. 3. Bonsoir, Thank you for your mail - but I have a clarification to make because the real name of my family is Brzezinski h. lubicz and I can not find it in Poland but I have seen on the recent list of the Polish nobility - I'd like to get in touch with a member of this branch of the family to have some details that I miss in my genealogy . I already found another branch of the Brzezinski family in Canada who provided me with very interesting information. Best regards. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Fred Hoffman" <fredhoff33@yahoo.com> Sent: Sunday, December 27, 2009 5:42 PM To: <polandbordersurnames@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [PBS] BRZEZINSKI > Hi, > > Bronwyn responded to Yvonne's request for the Websites where one can find > the name BRZEZINSKI in Poland as follows: > >> Are these what you were looking for? >> http://www.herby.com.pl/indexslo.html >> http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/brzezinski.html > > If you're looking on the Moikrewni site, don't forget the diacritical > marks! > The N in BRZEZINSKI is normally written by Poles with an accent over the > N. > So this page is really the better one: > > http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/brzezi%25C5%2584ski.html > > But because the Moikrewni site has separate pages for data on the > masculine > and feminine forms of adjectival surnames, you don't get the whole picture > unless you also check the page for the feminine version, ending in -ska: > > http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/brzezi%25C5%2584ska.html > > Unfortunately, these pages may not be much practical help, because they > simply show that BRZEZIN'SKI/BRZEZIN'SKA is a common name in Poland. 3. thank you - that's what I wanted but I have a small problem - I went on a site "list of the Polish nobility" - I have found the family name "Brzezinski h. Lubicz" - but I can not go further - that person is a branch of my family and I would be very happy that she can give me more information about our family - would you have an idea ? best regards -------------------------------------------------- From: "Bronwyn Klimach" <bronklimach@gmail.com> Sent: Sunday, December 27, 2009 9:56 AM To: <polandbordersurnames@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [PBS] BRZEZINSKI > Yvonne, > Are these what you were looking for? > http://www.herby.com.pl/indexslo.html > http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/brzezinski.html > Kind regards, > Bronwn. > > On Sun, Dec 27, 2009 at 8:50 AM, yvonne <yvonnebrzezinski@hotmail.fr> > wrote: > >> Hello and Happy New Year to all >> >> I lost the name of the site where one could find the name (Brzezinski) in >> different cities of Poland. >> (I do not know if the translation of google will be good. >> Thank you >> >> > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > POLANDBORDERSURNAMES-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' > without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

    3. Hi, Bronwyn responded to Yvonne's request for the Websites where one can find the name BRZEZINSKI in Poland as follows: > Are these what you were looking for? > http://www.herby.com.pl/indexslo.html > http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/brzezinski.html If you're looking on the Moikrewni site, don't forget the diacritical marks! The N in BRZEZINSKI is normally written by Poles with an accent over the N. So this page is really the better one: http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/brzezi%25C5%2584ski.html But because the Moikrewni site has separate pages for data on the masculine and feminine forms of adjectival surnames, you don't get the whole picture unless you also check the page for the feminine version, ending in -ska: http://www.moikrewni.pl/mapa/kompletny/brzezi%25C5%2584ska.html Unfortunately, these pages may not be much practical help, because they simply show that BRZEZIN'SKI/BRZEZIN'SKA is a common name in Poland. So searching for Brzezinskis is pointless unless you also have info telling exactly where your particular Brzezinski family came from -- which I'm afraid neither the Herby nor the Moikrewni site is much help with. All those sites tell you is that the name is common almost everywhere in Poland, though some areas have larger numbers than others. Sorry I couldn't give better news. Fred Hoffman

    3. Hi Tina and John: According to what I have so far, his immigration record when he came over on the ship said he was from a town called Jozefowo. I looked up and there were quite a few towns in Poland bearing such a name. Through looking at other Proszynskis that immigrated to this country, I found that most of them were from the Warsaw and Lomza areas. Plus, since my great-grandfather was listed as being born in Russian Poland, I have reason to believe that he is likely from one of the many Jozefowo's located in present-day Masovian Voivodeship or possibly one of the four Jozefowo's located in Podlaskie Voivodeship, which were both part of the Russian Empire at the time of his birth in 1884. John, it's funny, yet coincidental that you mention that you mention New Britain, CT. On that same ship record, that's the exact place that my grandpa was listed as going as his final destination. If I read correctly, there appeared to be an uncle with a name that I cannot decipher that had a residence there at the time of his arrival in October 1905. With that being said, do you have any contact information for that film department? 3. To Ellie, I have to say that I envy your just starting your search. It is so thrilling when ever you come across the least little piece of information and watch the family build. You may think it is going slow but every little word counts and adds to making your family real. It has been 30+ years since I started and it is still a thrill when I find something but nothing like the first time we found family on passenger list or in the census records or read the church records of Hungary and found my grandmother's birth and other information. So good luck and the best of wishes for a very fruitful New Year. 3. Nick, I do not recall if you have established where your family was in Poland???? Proszyński 21 Wa:2, Ch:4, Gd:1, Ka:6, Lu:4, Ol:1, Su:3 Prószyński 427 Wa:103, Bs:11, By:5, Ch:2, Ci:3, Cz:5, Gd:21, Go:24, JG:23, Ka:6, Kn:8, Kr:2, Lu:50, Ło:30, Łd:14, NS:1, Ol:32, Op:6, Os:4, Pł:14, Pr:4, Ra:2, Sd:3, Sk:8, Su:25, Tb:4, To:1, Wł:2, Wr:11, Za:1, ZG:2 Rymut gives us two spellings for the name. Kazimierz's was the latter. wikipedia.org give says that he had a son named Kazimierz, Jr. and a daughter named Irena. His wife was named Dorothy and English born. There is nothing more about her in the Wikipedia article. Kazimierz, Sr. died in a concentration camp in 1945. I think you may need to show how you were related to him to locate his two descendants. I think Mary's suggestions are good. See if you can find someplace on the Internet where he was born. If you know where your ancestors came from, and they are close to the place, you may be related to him, but you are going to need to do this the old fashioned way ...
