    3. Hi Tina   I'm looking for information about RICHTER's family.   My family came to Brazil in 1890 to Rio Grande do Sul.   At this moment I found out few information about my family in Poland.   This Mikolay Richter from Raciazek could be my ancestral, because in some documents in Brazil his birth year is in 1858, then I think that is the right person.   A friend in Brazil, that also research his family in Raciazek send me this data about Mikolay. (He don't have more information).   Mikolay's wife, Josepha Karacheski (or maybe Karaskiewicz), was born in 16.07.1868, but I don't know here in Poland.   Do you research also in Raciazek ?   Regards Alessandro --- Em dom, 24/1/10, Tina Ellis <polska.research@gmail.com> escreveu: De: Tina Ellis <polska.research@gmail.com> Assunto: Re: [PBS] Gmina Raciazek, Powiat Aleksandrowski - to Tina Ellis Para: polandbordersurnames@rootsweb.com Data: Domingo, 24 de Janeiro de 2010, 22:32 What name are you trying to find? 3. Knowing the correct village helps in identifying the correct parish and/or gmina in which religious / civil records would have been recorded. If you can tell us which of the two villages in the correct one, that will help. One of the places named Wolka Piaseczna is on the Biebrza~ River, was in the powiat of Szczuzynski, gmina of Ruda and parish of Bial~aszewo. The other one was in the powiat of Ostrowski, in the parish and gmina of Dl~ugosiodlo. If you have any documents on your ancestor, they may name one of the other places. That may help you identify which place is the correct one for you. Once you know that you can check the LDS online catalog to see if they have films of any records to help you do your research yourself. This is where you can find their catalog: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp This is their site for located a Family History Center near you so you can order, rent, view and copy records: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp You can also check the Polish archives to see if they have records that they can search for you. This is their catalog site: http://baza.archiwa.gov.pl/sezam/pradziad.php?l=en Use the Info and Searching guidelines for help. To me the church is the last resort because priests do not have the time to do your research for you. They do not have a secretary in an office that can do this work, as they seem to in the US. You can use this site to obtain the contact information for the correct parish. You will need to use the correct letters of the alphabet. Maybe you noticed I typed in the ~ symbol. That was to note that that letter of the alphabet had a diacritical (accent) mark, and to you will need the correct one to use the Polish archives and church address book. You can get those correct letters at this site: http://parafie.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=se&file=index&req=search&search=Mszana+Dolne Just click on the button and copy and paste it into the search box on the State archive and parish address book search engines. This is the site to search the parish address book: http://parafie.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=se&file=index&req=search&search=Mszana+Dolne Tina Ellis On Sat, Jan 23, 2010 at 7:15 AM, <dickdoms@aol.com> wrote: > > How do I locate parish/diocese records 1850-1915. 3. Dick, Although my Polish Road Atlas fails to mark this village (it's too small, about 88 residents) the Internet map of Poland http://mapa.szukacz.pl/ does, in fact, point it out. Are you sure that this is the village? There are two villages, both about the same size, named Wólka Piaseczna in Poland. One is located about where you indicate about 70km NE of Warsaw, the other is yet another 110km further northeast. If you are not sure, you need to investigate both possibilities. 3. That the LDS records end in 1844 is NO indication of anything, I'm afraid. LDS did manage to microfilm some Polish records but it is a very small portion of what's available. And, for decades now, there is no LDS microfilming going on in Poland whatsoever. And, most likely, the situation will not improve, with the Catholic Church being extremely opposed to the Mormon's practice of re-christening the dead into their faith. Most books are still in the parishes. Only writing directly to the church can definitely answer that question. ella -----Original Message----- From: polandbordersurnames-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:polandbordersurnames-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Tina Ellis Sent: Friday, January 22, 2010 9:26 PM To: polandbordersurnames@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PBS] Stojewa The church in Mszana Dolna was established in 1345. Whether the records withstood the ravages of WW II is another story. http://parafie.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=pr&pid=5298 Indecations are that it did not. I base that on when the LDS record filming ended ... 1844. Records are sent to the archive 100 years after they are issued. This mean the records from 1825 through 1844 made it to the State archives. In 1945, that area was probably fully engulfed in the war. You can try to write the church to see what they may still have in the way of record books.
