    1. [PBS] JAGODZINSKI Family
    2. Hi, I have been following this list for about a month and I am very impressed with the breath and depth of knowledge of the participants. I hope that I can get some help from the group. I may be a refreshing change from the recent spamming. The knowledge of my family starts with Frank and Julia Jagodzinski who left Poland sometime about 1885 and settled on the south side of Chicago. I do not have any clues as to where they came from in Poland. They probably had a young daughter also named Julia when they immigrated. They had other children in Chicago including Mary, John, Frank, Jr., Joseph, Victoria, Josie and Anton. Anton was my grandfather. Coincidentally, Frank Jr. married a woman named Julia, perhaps Kulik. I would appreciate any help as to the origins of the name, where they may have come from, or any other information about the family in Chicago. Thanks, Chris Berry csb043052@comcast.net

    3. The problem you will encounter with the surname Król (Polish for King) is quite similar to the one you get if you try to search for "Smith". There are about 50,000 people in Poland with that name. One will need to be very careful and base connections on factual evidence. Having the same given name will not be enough to identify two people as one person. Hellos Chris, Dziennik Chicagoski Death Notice Index 1890-1929: Surname Given name Death Date Notes Date of Notice Age Jagodzinski Franciszek -- mentioned: see Lukwinska, Julianna 19 Jun 1924 Jagodzinski Franciszek -- mentioned: see Kulik, Klara 28 Jun 1928 These listing are Polish obituaries posted in the Polish Newspapers Dziennik Chicagoski (The Chicago Daily Newspaper). It looks like Frank Senior's wife was Julianna Lukwinska, and he dies June 19, 1924. Don't know what to make of the second entry. It has a Clara Kulik mentioned in it. You can find these at this website: http://www.pgsa.org/dzien9029.htm. You can order a copy of the obituaries. Sometimes an obit will state where a person was born. I wish you much luck in your search. 3. Donna---Slowik is sometimes a variant form of the spelling of Slawik. The Slawiks in my heritage were born in Dembowa Gora, Lubliniec, Poland. An example is Jospha (Josephine) Slawik who married Franz (Francis) Polk and settled in Parisville, Huron Co, Paris Twp, MI in the mid-1850s. The inappropriate posts which have come our way are an invasion of my free time and hobby. How would the senders like it if I barged in on their bowling, gardening, watching of tv, listening to a concert, sewing a tapestry, painting or sculpting, playing their piano? When I open an email from this list it is my time away from the news, politics and sufferings of the world. When I'm done with my interaction with the listers, I can get back to problems that have not been solved in my absence. Perhaps I will be a bit refreshed and have a mind a tad clearer as a result of my minutes of pure diversion. As much as I respect peoples' motivations, all technicalities regarding freedom of speech and invasion of our privacy aside, there are boundaries of courtesy that must be respected. I am in favor of common courtesy.
