    3. My popup blocker is on also. Do you have little icons under the word Uwagi? It look like a capital I with a + sign above it. 3. Sorry ... I have Vista and it will not work the way you are telling us. If I want the parents names, I have to click on each little link in the Uwagi column. They cannot be copied and pasted. As soon as you move the cursor away from it, the window disappears. tina On Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 10:37 AM, G OBIEDZINSKI <[email protected]>wrote: > The trick does not work in Microsoft word for some reason. 3. That's interesting. He makes is sound like it will copy without clicking on the link. I can only see the parents names if I hover over each one individually. As soon as I move the cursor away, the little popups disappear. I was wondering if is it because I have the Vista Windows program. There are a lot of things I can't seem to do with this program in my new computer. 3. Can I ask exactly how you were able to access all of that information?  I can't seem to get anything earlier than 1894 when my grandmother was born.  She's not a Grabowski, but I'm just looking for some search ideas.  Thanks for anything you can offer. --- On Sun, 11/23/08, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [PBS] Trick To: [email protected] Date: Sunday, November 23, 2008, 12:13 PM I have done considerable research on the Grabowski family from the following parishes: Zielona, Krasne, Paluki and Makow. If anyone is researching the Grabowski family from any of those parishes I can give you much information. Unfortunately, the Grabowski surname is very common in Poland and I know NOTHING about that surname except in the above parishes. My many times great grandmother was Kunegunda Grabowski married to Grzegosz Slaski. I was able to obtain her will from 1787. I can go back in a straight line to her ancestors to the year 1530. the family owned the village of Grabowo Trojany and Niesiobedy both in the Zielona parish (in the old province of Ciechanow). I also have information about the Grabowski family from Grabowo Gesie again in the Zielona parish. The last information I received from an elderly gentleman in Grabowo Gesie who had a large handwritten ancestral tree which he permitted me to copy. I also have ancestors from this line. Kunegunda Grabowska both in 1762 and 1776 went to court to petition the court to receive the estates of her siblings who died childless. According to Polish law if a person died without issue their part of the estate reverted back to their next of blood kin and not to their spouses. Because Kundegunda was the only one of her siblings to have children, she inherited all of her father's estate. There was even another court case where she petitioned the court to have her sister in law removed from the Grabowski property in Grabowo Trojany, -----Original Message----- From: G OBIEDZINSKI <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sun, 23 Nov 2008 12:04 pm Subject: [PBS] Trick Another trick about the site: http://www.geneteka.genealodzy.pl/ When you get the results for births and you copy and paste it to a notepad file you miraculously can see the names of the parents of most of the children. 3. I too have Grabowski's in my family. My grandmother was Mary Grabowski, b. 1907 Detroit, MI, siblings Albert, Theresa, Martin and Joseph. Her father spelled his last name Grabowieckiej, from all records I can find; it was listed with this spelling in the Detroit City Directories from 1900 to about 1925 when it was suddenly shortened and Americanized to Grabowski. The GRABOWSKA - with the A ending would indicate a female. I hope the alternate spelling may be of some help to you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Fri, 21 Nov 2008 07:53:34 -0600 From: Dori Rhody <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [PBS] Records for Piaseczna (Near Zgorzelec) To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed I am just now getting around to looking at old mail. 3. In general, the language spoken by the family identifies the country of origin. I find a Morres [sic] Shacher. age 52. in California in 1920 who immigrated from Russia in 1896; hide dealer. Wife Sadie, b. Hungary; children Lillie, Jack, Gertrude, Dorothy, Amelia P.; Lillie b. Illinois; remainder of children b. California. Is this the family? If not, just post other names and US residence so members of the mailing list can look for to help in your search; so you have birth date or approximation for Morris? 3. I am trying to trace my grandfather Morris Shacher and I have no information on when he emigrated to the U.S. - sometime in the 1890's we think. The census data shows him to be from Latvia, but that name does not appear to be like other Latvian surnames. Family may have emigrated to Latvia, or the surname was changed when he entered the United States. Any ideas? Kathryn D. Hi, Bob, The names we found in Sanok archive for deportation to Ukraine were: Maria Chudoba (father Grigorij) born 1875 Katarzyna Chudoba (father Sevelij) born 1907 Sevelij Chudoba (father Iwan) born 1928 Maria Chudoba (father Iwan) born 1926 Josef Chudoba (father Iwan) born 1939 Marta Chudoba (father Iwan) born 1943 Katarzyna Chudoba (father Grzegorz) born 1932 Lidia Chudoba (father Grzegorz) born 1931 With them went Rozalia Krawiec (father Wasyl) born 1924, also part of my family. They all lived in Lukawica, Lesko, near the Ukrainian border until approximately 1944-45. Thanks for checking!
