    1. [POLAND-SURNAME] POLAND Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Prof. W. C. POLAND which was taken at the Jones Studio in Providence, Rhode Island. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's with Professor POLAND likely in his 40's at the time. In addition to his name, someone has written "his interest in Latin & Greek" on the front of the photograph. The photograph was recovered along with others belonging to the Class of 1878 at Brown University including both students and faculty. In this case I was able to locate information regarding Professor William Carey POLAND so I'm assuming this is a photograph of him. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding William and his family: William Carey POLAND was b. 25 Jan 1846 in Goffstown, NH to parents James Willey POLAND and Sarah Jane AYER. William married Clara Frances HARKNESS (b. 1852 in Providence, RI dau of Albert & Maria A. HARKNESS) on 25 Mar 1882 in RI. William died 19 Mar 1929 in Providence, RI. 1. [POLAND-SURNAME] SMUCZYNSKI, Stanislaw request for information
    2. Melanie Messens
    3. I am looking for any information regarding Stanislaw SMUCZYNSKI, born May, 1887 (possibly May 8th) and Died December 1923 (possibly December 5th).  Among my Aunt's photos I found a picture of his grave, the headstone reads "Prosi O Zdrowas Marya" which I believe translates to say that whoever visits this grave should say a Hail Mary.  It appears that the grave is in Poland. The photo was developed by Artin Studios in Detroit, Michigan and is dated August, 1924.   Any information would be helpful.   Thank you   Melanie

    1. [POLAND-SURNAME] Poland Ancestors in County Kildare, Parish of Ballymore Eustace, Ireland
    2. Hi Listmembers, ? ???? I am a new member of this Discussion List.? last week I found in the on-line searchable Irish index, IFHF,?the marriage record for Thomas Braughal/Broughal,?and other variant spelling,?and wife Esther Poland in April 1840 and also two out of three of their sons who were also born in the same Catholic parish Ballymore Eustace in 1846, James,?& 1851 Joseph?in County Kildare.? After I found the index records I spent the few Euros for each record and I am sure that these are my ancestors.? There was a Margaret Poland who was a witness to the wedding on 29 Apr 1840 in Ballymore Eustace.? She may have been a sister and I noticed?on another index record that someone with the same name, Margaret Poland, was married in 1844 in County Kildare also.? ? ????A few years ago I had an inquiry from someone else about a Margaret Poland.? I am also looking for the birth record for the oldest son of Esther Poland and Thomas Broughal/Braughal named Hugh who was born in 1842 in Ireland and I am sure in the same parish.? I tried searching the Mormon web site for Ballymore Eustace and I only found hits for the Griffiths Valuation index and several other things but no Catholic Vital Records registers.? I do not know the names of the parents either of Esther Poland and my second great grandfather Thomas Braughal/Broughal.? They were not listed on the marriage record.? I will probably have to write to the Kildare County Heritage Centre to find out anymore family information.? ? ????I am willing to share my Braughal/Broughal and Poland family information for anyone that needs it.? The last name shows up in a few Irish indexes in County Offaly, County Kildare and Dublin.? My great grandmother was Esther Mary Braughal.? She was born in July 1854 after the family emigrated to Newark, NJ.? The majority of Braughal's/Broughal's that lived in Newark in the 1800's and early 1900's are all ancestors of mine.? ? ????Thanks, ? Jack

    3. Hi List, I am looking for any information about the family name Riske and it's members. My great grandmother was a Riske born in Poland and later died in North Dakota. I would so much like some information on where in Poland to start my search on this name. I thank you so much:) Linda --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
