    3. Debbie, Thank you for the information. The document was hand written by my great-grandfather. Maxymilian BLASZKOWSKI and Monika KOSS were married in Detroit, Michigan on 24JAN1886 "in the convent builing St. Aubin av. between Canfield av. and Willis av. E". Can you scan it and post it to a web site so we can take a look at it? Were Maxymilian Valentine BLASZKOWSKI and Monika Weronika KOSS married in German occupied Poland or the U.S.? Using Shtetlseeker the closest I could come to "Parihowa" in old woj. Gdan~sk (Danzig) is Parchowo, map coordinates: 54?12' N 17?40' E http://atlas.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&formtype=latlong&latlongtype=decimal&latitude=54.2000&longitude=17.6667&size=big Parchowo is a gmina. I couldn't locate Wicliomica however, I found Kos~cierzyna also in old woj. Gdan~sk, map coordinates: 54?07' N 17?59' E Kos~cierzyna is a gmina. http://mapa.szukacz.pl/?&n=695806&e=433207&z=64m&m=Kos'cierzyna&t=&pp=developer You'll notice that these two places are relatively close to each other though not in the same gmina or powiat. It's unlikely that they met "over there," but it's possible. Since you have the locations, except for "Wicliomica" now you can locate the (Roman Catholic?) parishes for both places. First check to see if LDS has filmed records from these parishes; if not then you should probably write to the diocesan archives asking for specific records such as marriage, baptismal and death. Parchowo was a parish. It was in the diocese of Chel~mno. The diocese doesn't exist any longer, per se, so I'd suggest you contact the Torun~ diocesan archives which is the current diocese for Parchowo. Kos~cierzyna was a parish but not necessarily the parish for "Wicliomica." It was in the diocese of Chel~mno. The diocese doesn't exist any longer, per se, so I'd suggest you contact the Torun~ diocesan archives which is the current diocese for Kos~cierzyna. These are places to start. We'd still like to see a scan of the document so we can figure out "Wicliomica." Debbie Deanna Regnier wrote: > I am looking for information on the following couple and their families. They emigrated in 1882 and 1880, respectively. The birthdates and locations were provided by a document written by Maxymilian Valentine BLASZKOWSKI. I would appreciate any information regarding their parents and siblings.

    3. Deanna, It is entirely possible that Maxymilian BLASZKOWSKI did not know how to spell the name of his village in Poland. I am guessing the "document" was a letter he wrote and not a governmental or church record. Have you located their church marriage record? You don't want just a certificate, you want a copy of the whole record. It's best to get a photocopy or photograph of the record rather than a transcription. We don't need to guess at another person's interpretation of as Polish village name. It might help to locate the baptismal records (you don't want just a certificate, you want a copy of the whole record) for Maxymilian and Monika's children. Usually the priest would have to contact the parents' baptismal churches prior to baptizing their children. With any luck, that village name will be in the records. Good luck Debbie Deanna Regnier wrote: > Debbie, > > Thank you for the information. The document was hand written by my great-grandfather.
