    1. [POLAND] Writing to State Archives

    3. Good Morning, I did complete my letters to the Roman Catholic Parish and a I also did a letter to the Civil Registration Office seeking the marriage record of my grandparents. Now I am curious about writing to the State Archives. There was great advice from the group that I thought I would ask about this topic. The dates I have for my grandparents births comes from the naturalization papers of my grandfather. Is it safe to assume those dates are correct? or should I wait for the marriage record? The LDS microfilms available fall short of the dates I need for finding their births. That would have to come from the archives. Has anyone had experience in dealing with the archives? What were the results? After reading the information on the Poland genweb about writing to the archives I thought I would get the group input is greatly. Thank You Nancy

    3. Nancy, Always go to the parish (USC if necessary though they aren't as "helpful") if you can't find records on LDS films. The Polish civil archives will charge you for searching and it can get quite expensive. If I were doing this I'd wait for the marriage record from the parish. Give the priest about 6 months to answer and then write again.
