    3. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 21, 2008 JAMESTOWN PLAQUE VISITS PIAST INSTITUTE This year marks the 400th anniversary of the coming of Poles to America. The Piast Institute was chosen as a site to display the original plaque commemorating the first Polish settlers in America, donated by the Polish Falcons to Jamestown. In honor of the anniversary, and to open the exhibition of the plaque in the Detroit area, the Piast Institute will host a sherry hour on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at the Institute headquarters 2926 Caniff, Hamtramck, at 6:00 pm. A brief program on the Polish Jamestown story and the current activities to celebrate the event will highlight the program. Dr. Radzilowski, President of the Institute, will open the discussion on this first chapter of Polonia history. Ms. Henrietta Nowakowska, who has been working on the Jamestown project over the last year, will also speak about her efforts to publicize the Polish experience and to provide additional documentation. Ms. Henrietta Nowakowska is the Vice President for American Affairs of the Michigan Division PAC.
