Wondering if anyone has heard anything about the U.S. 1940 census which should be available in two years. Has ancestry.com or LDS said anything about indexing/transcribing the census? I remember when the 1930 census was made public, very little, if any (can't remember now) had been indexed/transcribed and we had to wait for ancestry.com to do the job. Just curious. Debbie
I just noticed there will NOT be an index available when the 1940 US Census is released. Researchers will be required to know the Enumeration District in the city or town where the ancestors lived. Apparently Steve Morse is working on a project to create a free time- saving tool to address this. For those of us going to the Chicago conference will probably get a first-hand explanation about what the project entails. -- Alan On Aug 21, 2008, at 12:59 PM, Debbie Greenlee wrote: > Wondering if anyone has heard anything about the U.S. 1940 census > which should be available in two years.
