But in actuallity, sponsoring someone had to so with some where to go once in the United States and that someone was responsible for them. Sponsorship also meant not as long of a stay at Castle Gardens or Ellis Island. Sponsors are listed on the Natuarlization Declaration or First Papers, sometimes on the index cards of either of these documents. Traditionaly kept by the counties, where they were filed. Good Luck.
