JAN, I AM USING 36 ON MY COMPUTER. CAPS IS SOMUCH LARGER THEN REGULAR TEXT. I DO SEE WHAT I HAVE BBEN TOLD ABOUT SPAM I NEED TO WORK THIS OUT. I WILL WORK ON A NEW MHUBEL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT EMAIL ACCOUNT AND GO FROM THERE. THANKS FOR THE HELP. MARY HUBEL
Friends, I know what the idea is behind the rule that all capital letters is like shouting, but I have never found it to be offensive in any way. I have also read similar diatribes against all capital letters on other sites, and the reason it was done was due to one kind of physical disability or another. Personally, I would much rather read letters in ALL CAPS than to miss out on helping someone, or some one helping me. If such a small variance from perfect form can be so offensive as to lead to a long string of emails wasting space, I would suggest that those who feel it necessary to "correct" the individual, please either learn to live with it, or resign from the message board. That latter is only for those with no compassion for disabilities, and who cannot change. I have had so very much success with following the various letters on this board and others that I can only be thankful for anyone who becomes an active member. Mary Hubel: Please continue to write, and write all in capital letters as much as you wish. I will read every letter you write, and I will not be offended by such an insignificant variance as all capital letters. The same is my wish for everyone who writes for help or to give information. I love you all. Eugene M. There's nothing in the mailing list rules (either for this list in particular or RootsWeb lists in general) that dictates that messages *must* be written in a specific case format, and since it's clear that Mary's use of all-caps stems from a vision problem and not lack of 'netiquette, I'm certainly not going to insist she type in the standard upper/lower case format. I imagine that it must be somewhat time-consuming for her to type even one email in all-caps and much worse to attempt to use lower case letters that are very hard for her to see. Having said that, let's close this subject. Those list members who find all-caps to be annoying have the option to delete those messages without reading them. :-) Hopefully, we'll all take to heart Eugene's words and show a bit of compassion and tolerance. -Marie
