Eugene, Thank you for the letter. Its seems at times I have to do things 2 x better then most people . It does get frustrating to me. I need to find out about my grandparents and where they were born and an information I can get. I do not know why I have this hunger for the information. My January search I did get lucky and find my aunt Mays grand children in C.A.(Aunt May was 22 years or so older then my mother. May came to America as a child (((3 year old))) with the name of Marie Gurniak or something like that.) We are all in contact sharing photos and voices. The cousin in C.A. who had all the photos was very excited to know us. Now she can look at the photos and know who is in the photo’s she has copies of. It seemed to put her at peace and now she can finish the family tree that her father *(my first cousin started). Here is the information I have on my grandmothers family……. My great grandfather Ferdinand Petrus (Pietrus) was kicked by a horse in the leg and was lame. He made a pilgimage to Our Lady of Chzestochowa. He owned a horse farm. Would there be records for this piligamage ? I do not have a clue the year but I think before 1900? My grandmother Anna Petrus (pietrus) had 2 sisters , Josephine Pietrus & Agnes______? & 1 brother Stanley Petrus (Pietrus) ? who may have had 2 sons. Also GRANDMA Anna Petrus had a brother who was a priest. ( this is information a cousin got from some of the cousins I can not contact or get replies from .) My grandmother Anna Pietrus(Petrus) was the only one from her family that came to America . Anna Petrus *(Pietrus) Born 6/15/1883 Her father Ferdinand Petrus *(Pietrus ) Her mother Magdalena Krajoski ****I have the spelling of Petrus and of Pietrus. Anna married Stanislaus Gorniak Feb 1908 in Tokarnia,Poland Anna came here in Aug 1912 with her 2 children . Her name was written Gurniak On the ship records and her official papers even her death certificate says Gurniak. My grandfather Stanislaus Gorniak had one half brother _____ Wojic. Stanislaus Gorniak was very sick as a young boy. He had pock marks on his face that was on the immigration papers as distinguishing features. He was taken care of by a jewish man I have been told. I think Stanislaus’ father died when he was young . *Stanislaw Gorniak came here in April 3,1912 alone to get ready for the family to come. The ship spells his first name Stanislaw Gorniak Born 4/12/1885 Or 4/13/1885 * cannot tell if 12or 13 on the papers we have. His fathers name is Joseph Gorniak Mothers name is (marked unknown) then says ________Krajowski 2 cousins say Stanisluas was Russian . One cousin is very sure of it. That is why I would love to contact his sisters . They might have papers ? My father says his father in law Stanislaus spoke 3-4 languages on e of them Russian and one of them Polish . That is all my dad 86 remembers about him. The family is practicing Roman Catholic . I was given the towns of Tokarnia ,Poland and the town of Skiby, Poland. This is all the information I can come up with. I do hope this helps find my relatives in Poland or any birth certificates or marriage certificates for my grandparents. Thank you to all for all of your time. Mary Hubel
Mary, Almost everyone in Poland makes a pilgrimage, or 6, especially to Cze~stochowa. There won't be any record of this. Since you know the villages where someone was born (I couldn't follow this part of your post) you can either see if LDS has the church records on film or write to the parish and ask for records. Tokarnia and Skiby are both in the gmina of Chę~ciny, east of the city of Cze~stochowa. Tokarnia is not a very big village; only about 1,330 people.
