I am researching my family history and need to located the current name of the city/town of Podlesa, Russia which is listed as the birth place and Last place of residence for my ancestors on both the Hamburg Passenger list on the Ellis Island passenger list. Their race is listed as Polish but their ationality is listed as Russian. Thank you!

Could Podlesa be a corruption of Podlasie/Podlaskie/Podlachia, a region of Poland?
