Debbie, 1st sorry to all for the erroneous email. sometimes when I hit reply, it just sends the email before I have a chance to say anything. Debbie, I have seen your pictures of Poland on PolishFamily.com and really love them all. The reason I am writing is my being hopeful that perhaps you could sometime visit my Grandmother's village. It sounds like you have your trip all planned out but maybe in a future trip? The village is Oblekon near Stopnica. It is 89.9 km, 1 hour 40 mins on Route 79 from Krakow. I would love to see pictures of this village. Enjoy your trip and I will look forward to reading about your adventures. By the way how do I sign up for the Polish Genius email list? Thank you. This means stopping in Warsaw, north-central Poland, south Poland and southeastern Poland. I will post my Trip Diary on Polish Genius email list starting either Aug. 31 or a short time after. This trip we start in Warsaw for two nights then fly to Rzeszów, pick-up a car and start driving east to southern eastern Poland. Our "main" stops will be Sanok/Bukowsko/Przemyśl, Kraków, Wałbrzych, Gniezno, Solec Kujawski, Olsztyn, Augustów and back to Warsaw. We usually don't take the main roads, preferring to use secondary roads so we can see Poland and take photos. That means route planning so we don't go through villages we've seen before. You can read about some of my trips and see photos of villages here: http://www.polishfamily.com In 2010 we attended a three day wedding of a very close friend of ours. This year we are attending the wedding of his cousin, whose family we also know well. We will only be going to the wedding and the poprowiny this time. Debbie L. L. Barb, There are often photos that can be found online. Search Oblekon for images in whatever search engine you use. Sometimes photos that are not the village you are looking for will also come up in a search, so you have to look closely to see how they are labeled. In this first link it looks like all 62 photos are labeled Oblekon. The good thing is that it appears that there is only one village named Oblekoń in Poland (at least only one came up on Google maps), so you could be sure it is the village you are looking for. http://en.eholiday.pl/info-oblekon-29497-photo-66507.html http://www.oblekon.cba.pl/historia.php ________________________________ From: "BarbyDZ@aol.com" <BarbyDZ@aol.com> To: poland-roots@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, August 20, 2012 11:48 AM Subject: Re: [POLAND] Gas in Poland Debbie, 1st sorry to all for the erroneous email. sometimes when I hit reply, it just sends the email before I have a chance to say anything. Barb, I am still in the process of mapping out our routes but I do know we aren't going near Oblekon on this trip. Sorry. I didn't mention Polish Genius to take members from Poland Roots so please stay subscribed to this list. Lots of people are on more than one list depending on their own needs. Today, August 20, happens to be the 11 anniversary of Polish Genius! Good day to join. Barb, Have you seen the photos here? http://en.eholiday.pl/info-oblekon-29497-photo-31376.html#idd_city_gallery A shame about all of the advertising you need to endure on the site... Bronwyn.
