There appeared Antonina Klimek (female! you rarely see a female witness), 62 years of age, retired, and Leon Kozak, 41 years of age, a sacristan, both residing in Lublin, and they declared that yesterday at 9:30, Ludwik Bajczyk died in Lublin, 62 years of age, a coachman/cab driver, a widower after his deceased wife Jozefa of maiden name unknown, residing in Lubliniec, born in Siedliszcze, the son of Antonin and Antonina of maiden name unknown Bajczyk, a married couple. After personally confirming the passing of Ludwik Bajczyk, this record was read to the declarant and witnesses, and thereupon signed by us and the second witness. S...?, Kozak Leon A grammatical question for Polish speakers: it says "wdowiec po zmarlej zonie Jozefie z nazwiska niewiadomej" - shouldn't that be niewiadomego, to modify nazwiska (of unknown maiden name)? The way it's written, it has to modify Jozefie, and would read something like "a widower after his wife Jozefa, unknown of maiden name", which doesn't make much sense. I rarely see grammatical errors like that in these records, all those endings that are so complicated for us are second nature and effortless to native speakers.
