Jim, The best hotel in the area is the Hotel Bona. It does not have an elevator though. I just stayed there a week ago. I'm still in Poland. I visited the archives you mentioned and things have changed! You can now photograph your own records (only yours) and there is no charge. The director speaks English as well. Make sure you have the new location. It's in a stand-alone building with parking!
