    3. I am able to get into this site on my Mac, which has a pre-Intel processor and is still using MacOS 10.5.8, which is now pretty old. I didn't try actually searching for a marriage record, but when I when to one page of the site (the 'marriage license' link), I found this wording: Records Search for Register of Wills, Orphans' Court and Marriage License Bureau Due to heavy traffic volume, the online records search engine is experiencing some technical difficulties. Infocon is working on a solution to resolve these difficulties. If you are unable to access the online records search, please try again later. Note: Pop-ups need to be enabled to access online records. For support call Infocon at 814-472-6146 If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to call or email us atmarriagelicense@lackawannacounty.org. Please notice that all Marriage License forms (with the exception of an Application for Marriage) are now available on line for you convenience. This website is intended to benefit the public. However, when I clicked on the "Records Search for ... Marriage license" link I was able to enter the database. Perhaps the high useage volume is the source of the problems being described? ................Mike On Jun 13, 2012, at 9:25 AM, Penix B Howard wrote: > Hello -- I was able to get into the site. Note: Pop-ups need to be enabled to access online records. For support call Infocon at 814-472-6146" I also tried Internet Explorer and had to click through from a "search" page (?). I found the same notice though about heavy volume. Debbie Bronwyn Klimach wrote: > Hi, > I have been very patient, but it seemed time to try visiting this site > again. 3. This is sounding suspiciously like there is some error in the way they wrote their html or javascript, meaning that messages are accidentally getting displayed that should not be. I have that happen all the time at Ancestry.com, since my browser is out of date, rather than there being a problem with the way the page is written. But I would guess the same thing can happen if there are technical difficulties at the website itself. Error messages get triggered and displayed which should not be, and can really confound the visitor. Yes, writing them is a good idea.

One of these links is also for canals - same procedure. Have fun exploring the other links too. These maps are helpful when trying to figure out how your Ancestors got to the ports to come to the US. 3. Hello again Megan, you already have some of this stuff. The Hamburg passenger lists show the family's last residence as Gniewkowitz. The New York passenger lists show the birthplace of Karl in bartschen (meant for Barcin/ Bartschin ?), Henriette in hohensalza, and all the children born indexed as bruewkarig (Gniewkowitz). They were going to son Otto Borck (Barck), Saginaw, Mich. http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp has Nowa Wies Wielka, where Carl & Henriette were married, is located about 5 miles from Gniewkowitz (Gniewkowiec). Hohensalza located about 9 1/2 miles from Gniewkowitz (Gniewkowiec). And Bartschin (Barcin) is located about 8 1/2 miles from Gniewkowitz (Gniewkowiec). http://www.kartenmeister.com/preview/databaseuwe.asp show what Lutheran & Catholic churches were affiliated with these towns. Hope this helps. The first railroads didn't appear in Europe until the 1840s. There appears to have been a quite few railway lines even before 1881.
