    3. Hi list, I haven't followed this thread since the beginning, so if this has already been addressed I apologize. I would like to add that PAF (Personal Ancestral File) also allows Polish/Swedish and other discritics to be added. To add to what Margaret Jenkins wrote: *"There are some problems right now in changing info that I entered without diacriticals long ago. I can make batch changes of locations, and I think also sources, but there is no way now to change all occurrences of a surname, or first name, for example." *PAF also allows for batch changes to first and last names if you want to add diacritics at a later date.* *Or change the Latin Catharina to the Polish Katarzyna.* *I am also a Brother's Keeper user because they are the only program (that I know of) that lets you create your own Ahnentafel list with whatever attributes you like -- in my case I want one that lets me print just name, birth and death dates (not paragraphs of who married whom and when). You can even ask for number of children in the family. If there are multiple wives the number born to each is listed with a total number for the father. It's fun to play around with. Just my two cents. 3. One more thing. If you are customizing your own Family Group Sheet for Jews, then there should be separate entries allowed for their secular names, Hebrew names, and Yiddish names, as well as nicknames. many Hebrew and Yiddish names are equivalent to each other, but seem quite different to those of us not raised where both are used. Not all families will give their children Hebrew and Yiddish names, but if you can take your wife's Jewish side back far enough, you may well run into ancestors of hers whose records sometimes show their secular names, sometimes their Hebrew names, and sometimes their Yiddish names, all for the same person. If you have not visited it, http://JewishGen.org has a lot of helpful information about Jewish Genealogy, and includes given names databases where you can research which names are equivalent to each other.

Your question makes it sound like you are just using printed family group sheets instead of a family tree program for your research. Is that true? I would guess that FamilySearch.org might have templates for Family Group Sheets somewhere on their site. You might email support@familysearch.org and ask if they have FamilyGroupSheet Templates, and if they include Jewish life events. But as others have mentioned for FamilyTreePrograms, you may need to take whatever non Jewish FGS you find and take it into Word or whatever editor you have that edits doc files, and add the events that you want to see there. I did find one such template, though: http://www.ldorvdor.net/downloads/Family_Group_Record_typical_data. pdf Here is another one: http://j.b5z.net/i/u/2075192/i/Family_Group_Sheet_Word_Format3.doc But neither of the above include the Nusyn? (if I have the word correct, the prenuptial vows) nor baby naming ceremony dates. I know it really would be nice to find a ready made template, but my guess is you will need to do some customization, depending on the life events you find for each person.

Wal, To add to what Alan suggested, I would merely add that if you need Polish characters, you can access those through a Character Viewer that is a part of most word processing programs and computers. In my case, Polish is referred to as Uncode: 0142, UTF8 CS82. If you use Word, go to Tool, choose Language. This allows you to insert appropriate diacriticals. 3. Hello Genners: I would like some help with this Polish birth document. With another member's assistance, I have translated this birth record (Jewish) but I cannot find the name of the mother of the child. The name of the father and the mother's father (child's grandfather) are mentioned but I somehow have missed the name of the mother. Additionally, what does "municipality ?Aruąwy" and "the tenth Community" mean? The person who asked for help said that the Gutwirth family lived at #18 according to a census she found but ?Aruąwy remains a question. Here is the link to the original image. I did a little Photoshopping to lighten it up. https://picasaweb.google.com/105723605731371692382/July152012Gutwirth?authkey=Gv1sRgCOXb4ufd05GjtAE Thanks in advance, Meryl Rizzotti Akt 224 In the year one thousand eight hundred twenty nine (1829) on the Thirtieth day of June at the hour of 6 after noon. In front of us Woyciechem Kucieńskim from the Civil Registry in the Free City of Krakow set for the Orthodox Jews living in the municipality ?Aruąwy personally appeared the Orthodox Jew, Gutwerth, Hersch, agent, age thirty, from the tenth Community living under number eighteen who showed us a child of the female sex which was born at his residence on the eighth day of May of the current year at the tenth hour of the night, (10:00PM), He stated that the child is begotten from him and (this has to be a mistake) Markus Eisenberg age twenty eight years of age, his wife. To the child was given the name Netel.
