HI, can someone please direct me as to where we write to find Jewish birth records for 1911. Will they exist for Warsaw Poland? Regards Gay in Western Australia
Gay, In theory records over 100yrs old are kept by Polish archives, and until then in the USC, local civil registration office. Have you seen the information here? https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Poland As you could need to prove your relationship to the person whose record you hope to obtain, you may find it easier to work with a local genealogist. Arthur, Church records (do you know the religion of this couple?) for Guben have been filmed: https://familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=localitydetails&subject=38192&subject_disp=Germany%2C+Preu%26%23xdf%3Ben%2C+Brandenburg%2C+Guben&columns=*,0,0 Are you familiar with Family History Centres and how to order films? https://familysearch.org/locations Bronwyn. Gay, Where you write really depends on whether you are talking about the city of Warsaw itself, or some town or shtetl that was in Warsaw Gubernia at some point, but might be in another area now. Have you searched JRI Poland at JewishGen.org for the births you are talking about? And do you know for sure if it was the city of Warsaw vs. just in Warszawa Gubernia? Or possibly in nearby Bialystok, for which I believe records would be ordered from a totally different Archive? There are no specifically Jewish records like that Catholics have in that area, as far as I know. I am preparing to place an order for records myself for ancestors who said they were from Warsaw, but really were from Makow in Lomza, and I will be ordering these records from the Pultusk Branch of the Warszawa Archive, in this case. But all these records were indexed by JRI Poland. Others on this list will have more experience dealing with the archives, with regards to ordering records that have not been indexed. I hope they will be able to provide you with better guidance about a query to the archives about a birth that recent, which is not likely to have been indexed yet because of Poland's 100 year privacy protection laws.

Dear listers, I have been asked to give further information that might help the list members assist further I am doing this research for a friend. Looking for the father of Jerzy Braun born 1911 in Poland. Believe in Warsaw. Herman Braun (Jerzys father) was a company director (believe timber) from Warsaw area. Mother unknown One sibling possible called Rose (Rosa or Rosalie). Other siblings unknown. Believed to be about 40 family members of which only a few survived the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII. Rose married an Alexander Isaac Dubinsky (who took a title name of Van Eyck) Marriage place unknown. Alexander is of Russian birth. They had one son Bogdan and they ended up in New York. Jerzy Braun was a doctor as was Alexander (above). Jerzy got his medical degree in France but went back to Poland when the war broke to help his family. He went to Kreczmar High School - Warsaw 1920 - 22 and ? 292 Collage Warsaw This comes from a hand written CV of Jerzy Braun written by his wife in England. Dr Jerzy Braun practiced medicine in England. I am not really tracing his English life - more his parents, siblings and his life in Poland. I do have a ancestry page Braun family tree. Thank you for any help Gay

Hi, New to the list. I am helping a descendant look for his relatives and he knows the birth date of his father and would like to apply for that birth certificate. He is believed to have been born in Warsaw. Can you advice me of the correct procedure. He only knows his father's fathers first name and would like to find the mother of his father. for privacy sake I have not included names but I am happy to email off list. Thank you Gay O'Neill Western Australia.
Gay, Can you give us a little more information? It would also help us and your friend if you used whole names rather than relationships when you write about them. Who was the immigrant to Australia? Whose birth record are you looking for? Thanks. It seems some breakthroughs will involve a lot of waiting for someone who has the records in the family and the interest to find distant relatives. I will be careful with info. Thankfully, the relative has confirmed the connection with a birth record. > From: bhpen05@machlink.com > Date: Fri, 24 Aug 2012 10:33:12 -0500 > To: poland-roots@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [POLAND] a major breakthrough- finally!!! > > Congratulations on the break-through. Thank you (cheri) for the link to the Oblekon pictures, I really enjoyed them, and Thank you also Bronwyn. I really appreciate it. Eastern Daylight Time Subj: [POLAND] Oblekoń pictures Barb, There are often photos that can be found online. Search Oblekon for images in whatever search engine you use. Sometimes photos that are not the village you are looking for will also come up in a search, so you have to look closely to see how they are labeled. In this first link it looks like all 62 photos are labeled Oblekon. The good thing is that it appears that there is only one village named Oblekoń in Poland (at least only one came up on Google maps), so you could be sure it is the village you are looking for. http://en.eholiday.pl/info-oblekon-29497-photo-66507.html http://www.oblekon.cba.pl/historia.php ________________________________ ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to POLAND-ROOTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
