    3. Debbie, This is what I have, taken from a birth certificate issued in 1926. My mother was born in 1913 so this must have been sent for.Rzeczpospolita PolskaWojewodztwo L~odzkieStanoctwo KoninskieParafja Gosl~awice It then says ProboszczParafja Rzym Kat Goslawice That bit is in the center of the page. The document is divided in two with one half in Russion and one half in Polish. I don't see a church name anywhere. If you can set me on the right track, it would be great. As you can see, I have less info for my Dad's father. 2. Debbie Greenlee
    3. Donna, Chris responded to your first post with a suggestion/question: "Could Podlesa be a corruption of Podlasie/Podlaskie/?" There are also numerous places in Poland with the name, Podlesie. Of course you'd have to weed out the ones that are not located in the Russian partition. http://www.jewishgen.org/Communities/LocTown.asp Then again, the location could be in Belarus. I think you'll need a little more information in order to figure out exactly where "Podlesa" is located. Try to locate a Declaration of Intent and Petition for Naturalization for more info. Folks on this list might be able to offer more help if you give us the names and dates of the people you are interested in. Also list where they settled in the U.S. Debbie Donna Balboni wrote: > I am researching my family history and need to locate the current name of the city/town of Podlesa, Russia which is listed as the birth place and last place of residence for my ancestors on both the Hamburg Passenger list on the Ellis Island passenger list. 2. Hi Listers, I haven't been too active on this list in recent years, so perhaps this is old news, but a cousin just tipped me off to a fantastic website for those researching ancestors in the Slupca area of Poznan:  http://www.slupcagenealogy.com/HHMM.aspx The website has indexed all the church records and civil transcripts for parishes in the Slupca area so that they're searchable by name, along with some useful supplemental information (maps, links to translational aids, etc.).  Happy hunting! 3. Go to Rootsweb.com and find mail lists for that area and message boards. The Poland-Roots mail list is also sponsored by Rootsweb.com. You can genealogy mail lists and message boards on almost any place where you would want to search. Members there would be more familiar with other places to search for records, etc. Tina Ellis On Thu, Oct 4, 2012 at 5:02 PM, <PALSKID@aol.com> wrote: > I know this is not a Polish related question but; Dose anyone know of a > good Sicilian geni. site?
