    3. To Jane Rowland: I am very disappointed and upset with your message--no need to put people down. If you did not get a translation, it may be the way you asked or the information you shared or did not share. I have never had a time when I requested help that someone did not give it. It might not happen immediately but the help came. I consider your response rather nasty. But, I hope someone can help you soon. 3. Thanks to all who kindly responded to my request with helpful suggestions. I still have the film for a couple of weeks and will try again due to your encouragement. I think it is likely however that I will end up contacting the researcher. This list has been most helpful to us. Cheers, Virginia

    3. Marie, great site. Thanks for sharing with the list. Virginia, I too recently ordered FHL microfilm to find paragraphs of Polish to make my head spin. First I found a Crash Course online at http://www.pgsa.org/CrashCourseInPolish.pdf that has some good information in it. Ultimately, I ordered the book In Their Words: A Genealogist's Translation Guide to Polish, German, Latin and Russian Documents, Volume I: Polish, 2nd edition by Jonathon D. Shea and William F. Hoffman. (available at Polish Art Center http://www.polartcenter.com among other places.) It is perfect and I am able to get the information out of the records. It has a lot of extra information too. I've also found the list of first names helpful, when I wasn't quite sure what the handwriting was, I cross check the list for correct spelling. There is also Volume II, which covers Russian. Good luck with your quest. :-) Trish Stumpf Garcia ----- Original Message ----- From: "virginia miller" <vjmill@telus.net> To: <poland-roots@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, June 20, 2008 8:06 AM Subject: [POLAND] Buszowski,Zakrzewski,Kapron,Wisniewski > I have been researching my husband's family tree containing the above surnames.
