Kim, What timing. Our Lady of Grace (which I think is the correct school) had the convent torn down this summer. That's OK since I'm not looking for a nun. ;) Debbie Kim Stankiewicz wrote: > Debbie: > > According to www.chicagoancestors.org I found the two churches below to > be the closest to the address given. Colleen: Thanks for the info. But Stankiewicz is a somewhat common name (unfortunately). It means 'son of Stan'. In Poland there are many, many people with that name. I am not related to any Stankiewicz family members unless they originated in Saginaw, MI or Chorzenice, Poland. I am 99.9% confident in saying that as I have traced my Stankiewicz line back to the 1700's. My grandfather arrived in the US in 1913 and left all of his family behind. Others wanted to come, as proved in letters I have, but never did for one reason or another. Does anyone know what Catholic elementary school a child would have attended circa 1936 if her home address was 3746 Wrightwood, Chicago? Thank you Debbie
This afternoon I went thru an old box I obviously had not looked at since about 1988. It contained a bunch of my old stuff as far back as 1985 from just after my high school graduation. I found a bunch of empty envelopes and am trying to figure out what they are. they are dated 1953 I also found an envelope dated 1950 with a letter enclosed in polish. The address for all is Greenport, which is the east end of the north fork of the Island. I am originally from the area, and the name on the empty envelopes is familiar to me. If anyone on the list is familiar with the families of this area during the '50's please contact me off list if you think you may be able to help me sort this out. Thanks in advance. Marie
