    3. I found Rhode Island birth - John W. Carpenter 18 Sept 1900 Parents William A and Mary Carpenter. 1910 Census for Providence, Providence, Rhode Island - Eagle Str. Mary age 36- Canada English- widow had 3 children was a shaker at a laundry. Her mother and father looked like Ire - English O. I don't know what the O was for. Some of the listings had O and others had L.John was 9, Ella 10 and Gertrude 7 All three were born in Rhode Island. Their father was listed as being born Canada English and their mother Canada French. I couldn't find a 1900 Census or 1920. I did find a Rhode Island Birth - Grace V Carpenter born to William A. and Mary Carpenter 30 sept 1901. Oh and I found a Canada Crossing 6 Oct. 1920. for John W. Carpenter. The thing that caght my eye was the departure contact was Aunt Catherine Pembrook and you had listed John's mother as Mary Pembrook ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Podgursky" <kpodgursky@gmail.com> To: "Poland Roots" <poland-roots@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 20, 2008 11:51 AM Subject: [POLAND] 1910 census lookup - Carpenter,John W. 3. Nancy, Always go to the parish (USC if necessary though they aren't as "helpful") if you can't find records on LDS films. The Polish civil archives will charge you for searching and it can get quite expensive. If I were doing this I'd wait for the marriage record from the parish. Give the priest about 6 months to answer and then write again. 3. Good Morning, I did complete my letters to the Roman Catholic Parish and a I also did a letter to the Civil Registration Office seeking the marriage record of my grandparents. Now I am curious about writing to the State Archives. There was great advice from the group that I thought I would ask about this topic. The dates I have for my grandparents births comes from the naturalization papers of my grandfather. Is it safe to assume those dates are correct? or should I wait for the marriage record? The LDS microfilms available fall short of the dates I need for finding their births. That would have to come from the archives. Has anyone had experience in dealing with the archives? What were the results? After reading the information on the Poland genweb about writing to the archives I thought I would get the group input is greatly. Thank You Nancy

She compares sentence-by-sentence what she wrote for an 8th grade report (after interviewing her grandmother) with the true facts as she has come to know them based on documents she's uncovered since her serious research began in 1989. This is a gentle reminder that we must each go back through our original research to see if the conclusions we drew years ago were pseudological leaps to inappropriate and misleading conclusions or are based in sound analysis of the evidence at hand. http://pastprologue.wordpress.com/

It provides a forum for individuals and organizations focused on a single country or group of people to exchange information and be updated on developments in the field. While it primarily serves the interests of North Americans in tracing their lineages back to a European homeland, it welcomes members from all countries.

SamE797@aol.com wrote: > When I first wrote this email I tried to insert a copy of > the record but it sent it back Because RootsWeb lists are email-based (instead of web-based), all HTML formatting and attachments are automatically stripped from messages to prevent viruses, trojans, worms, etc. from being distributed via the list. [That's also why list messages are sent in plain text and not HTML.] However, RootsWeb does have message boards that accept image files and gedcom files. Here is the link to the Poland boards: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.poland/mb.ashx Here is a link to the historical areas of today's central Europe, if you prefer: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.histreg/mb.ashx --- Here are the instructions to upload image(s) to a RootsWeb message board: Since the link to post a new message to these boards can be a bit obscure if you don't speak board-ese <g>, click "Begin New Thread" just beneath the word title of the board (Unknown). If you're not a registered member (which is free and painless) or if you're not logged in under an existing account, you'll be taken to a login screen. Either create an account or login. You'll be taken to the "Post new thread to Unknown" screen, where you can type in your message. RootsWeb boards do not accept text, including URLs, enclosed by angle brackets (< > - any attempts to include them in messages results in an error screen with no further explanation), so be sure not to use them. To add an image or gedcom file to a message, click "Attach a file" just above the "Post" button. Click the Browse button to select the appropriate file on your computer. Up to five image/gedcom files can be attached to a single message. To post your message with the image(s) attached, click the "Post" button. Once you've posted the image on the message board, send this list the link to find it. Not only will you generate input from folks here on the list, but you'll likely get a "regular" on the board to throw in their two cents as well. A few of the regulars on the Poland boards are native Poles and a few others are fluent in Polish. -Marie

    3. Deanna?, What sort of document was this? Can you scan it and post it to a web site so we can take a look at it? Were Maxymilian Valentine BLASZKOWSKI and Monika Weronika KOSS married in German occupied Poland or the U.S.? Using Shtetlseeker the closest I could come to "Parihowa" in old woj. Gdan~sk (Danzig) is Parchowo, map coordinates: 54°12' N 17°40' E http://atlas.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&formtype=latlong&latlongtype=decimal&latitude=54.2000&longitude=17.6667&size=big Parchowo is a gmina. I couldn't locate Wicliomica however, I found Kos~cierzyna also in old woj. Gdan~sk, map coordinates: 54°07' N 17°59' E Kos~cierzyna is a gmina. http://mapa.szukacz.pl/?&n=695806&e=433207&z=64m&m=Kos'cierzyna&t=&pp=developer You'll notice that these two places are relatively close to each other though not in the same gmina or powiat. It's unlikely that they met "over there," but it's possible. Since you have the locations, except for "Wicliomica" now you can locate the (Roman Catholic?) parishes for both places. First check to see if LDS has filmed records from these parishes; if not then you should probably write to the diocesan archives asking for specific records such as marriage, baptismal and death. Parchowo was a parish. It was in the diocese of Chel~mno. The diocese doesn't exist any longer, per se, so I'd suggest you contact the Torun~ diocesan archives which is the current diocese for Parchowo. Kos~cierzyna was a parish but not necessarily the parish for "Wicliomica." It was in the diocese of Chel~mno. The diocese doesn't exist any longer, per se, so I'd suggest you contact the Torun~ diocesan archives which is the current diocese for Kos~cierzyna. These are places to start. We'd still like to see a scan of the document so we can figure out "Wicliomica." Debbie Deanna Regnier wrote: > I am looking for information on the following couple and their families. They are my 2nd great grandparents. Maxymilian Valentine BLASZKOWSKI was born on 18MAY1863 in Parihowa, Danzig, Poland and Monika Veronika KOSS was born on 24JAN1886 in Wicliomica, Koscierzyna, Poland. They emigrated in 1882 and 1880, respectively. The birthdates and locations were provided by a document written by Maxymilian Valentine BLASZKOWSKI. I would appreciate any information regarding their parents and siblings.

    3. My fault, I got this list confused with another one hosted at Yahoo. There's no way (that I know of) to upload an image here for others to view. You could try one of the free image hosting sites. >When I first wrote this email I tried to insert a copy of the record but it  >sent it back saying it is not allowed to send images.
