    2. I've been following this email with interest because the names are so similar to my husband's family names: Frank and Josephine JAGODZINSKI of Hudson, PA. Frank's mother's maiden name was BLAZEJEWSKA. She married Anthony JAGODZINSKI in Newark, NJ in St. Stanislau RC Church. They came through Ellis Island from the same village outside Warsaw: Powiat Przsnys or something like that. I don't have the paper at hand, so I'm winging this. The close coincidences are so weird. Connie Barnard Jagodzinski CT In a message dated 9/25/2008 5:39:25 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, daveg@airmail.net writes: Deanna, It is entirely possible that Maxymilian BLASZKOWSKI did not know how to spell the name of his village in Poland. I am guessing the "document" was a letter he wrote and not a governmental or church record. Have you located their church marriage record? You don't want just a certificate, you want a copy of the whole record. It's best to get a photocopy or photograph of the record rather than a transcription. We don't need to guess at another person's interpretation of as Polish village name. It might help to locate the baptismal records (you don't want just a certificate, you want a copy of the whole record) for Maxymilian and Monika's children. Usually the priest would have to contact the parents' baptismal churches prior to baptizing their children. With any luck, that village name will be in the records. Are you going backwards or forwards? You don't mention latter census. Is Frank the one in 1880 Bellevue, Brown Dist. 2, Page 12B. If so, there are other children (or this is another Frank Klies!) 3. Dragon, Sorry 'bout that. Maybe I should have made it clearer as to which way I am going. I am trying to go backwards, to try to find Frank and Josephine's parents. I think that was Josephine (Jaconiska) in the 1870 census in Toledo, with her? parent's, Andrew and Jaconiska Jacoposky. But I am trying to find proof. Maybe she was a niece, and not a daughter? The 1870 census does not specify how she was related to them. Yes, that's my Frank in the 1880 Bellevue census, with other children, and the 1900 census. I didn't mention it in my posting because I was trying to go backwards. I received this e-mail below from Karen. All these people belong to my family. Bertha was my grandmother. She married Charles Micolichek. Stanislaus and Joseph were Bertha's brothers. Frank and Josephine are buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Pine Grove, New Denmark, Brown County, Wisconsin, as well as Charles and Bertha, and Wladislaus (John Walter). Joseph died in Rochester, New York. Frances married Peter Preslawske (Preslaski), and is buried in St. Edward and Isadore Church Cemetery, Suamico, Settlement of Flintville, Brown County, Wisconsin. Anna married Stanislaw Bukowski and is buried in St. John The Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Howard, Brown County, Wisconsin. I haven't found out the whereabouts of Stanislaus (Klysz) Klish yet. The daughter, Josephine, married a James Philan May 02, 1900 in Menominee, Michigan. I haven't been able to locate them in the census records. Ruth ------------------- >From the same Vital Records page I sent earlier, you will find Birth Bertha Klich July 23, 1883 Birth Stanislaus Kliesch Dec. 7, 1877 Marr of Joseph Klish to Annie Kessner on June 18, 1900 There are some other "Klish" names--you can search by Brown County and put in KLI to see what comes up. Plenty of other possibilities. Perhaps you know on ancestry.com 1880 in Bellevue, Brown, WI is Frank Klies with wife Josephine, daughters Frances and Josephine, sons Wladislaus, Stanislaus, and Joseph 1900 in Bellevue, Brown, WI is Frank Klisch with son Walter and daughters Anna and Bertha Perhaps they would be buried at the Polish Cemetery in Bellevue. You could contact them and ask for burial records. You might also contact the Brown Co Library to locate some old obits. Might give a clue you're looking for. http://www.co.brown.wi.us/library/history-genealogy/index.shtml If you need any help, let me know, I'm in WI. 1. [POLAND] Jakubowski aka Jacoposky
    2. Ruth
    3. Hello, I don't have much to go on, but here goes. My great-grandmother was Josephine Jakubowski, born abt 1855 in Poland. She married Frank Klisch, born March? or November?, 1845 in Poland, aka Klysz, Klish, Klies, etc., October 22, 1871 at St. Mary's Church in Toledo, Ohio. No parents were listed on the marriage record. They had 2 known children born in Toledo, baptized at St. Mary's. Marianna and Josepha were twins, born March 14, 1874. John Walter (Wladislaw), born June 28, 1873 also states that he was born in Ohio. Baptismal record not found. I found whom I believe to be Josephine and her parents listed in the Toledo 1870 census. 1870 United States Federal Census, Toledo Ward 7, Lucas County, Ohio, Page 10, Enumerated August 11 Post Office: Toledo Andrew Jacoposky, Age 40, Born about 1830 Poland, Parents born Foreign Birth, Occupation: Laborer Jaconiska Jacoposky, Age 35, Born about 1835 Poland, Parents born Foreign Birth, Occupation: Keeping House Jaconiska Jacoposky, Age 12 or 13, Born about 1858 or 1857 Poland, Parents born Foreign Birth Frank and Josephine (Jakubowski) Klish moved from Toledo between 1875 and 1880, and settled in Bellevue, Brown County, Wisconsin. I have not been able to find any more information on Josephine's parents?, Andrew and Josephine Jakubowski since the 1870 census. But, this Mary Jacoboski in the 1880 census may have been Josephine, wife of Andrew. 1880 United States Federal Census Name: Mary Jacoboski Home in 1880: Toledo, Lucas, Ohio Age: 50 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1830 Birthplace: Poland Relation to Head of Household: Self (Head) Father's birthplace: Poland Mother's birthplace: Poland Neighbors: View others on page Occupation: Keeping House Marital Status: Widowed Race: White Gender: Female Cannot read/write: Blind: Deaf and dumb: Otherwise disabled: Household Members: Name Age Mary Jacoboski 50 ** Other surnames from Poland listed on the same page as Mary Jacoboski were: Rochoriack Neberi Rowalski Starki Josephine (Jakubowski) Klish died in 1896, most likely in Brown County, Wisconsin. No death record has been found yet. Frank Klish died September 06, 1903 in Bellevue. His death record did not list any parents. Josephine and Frank are buried in Brown County, Wisconsin I did not find a marriage date for Andrew Jakubowski, born abt 1830, and Josephine (Nee ???), born about 1835, on the Poznan Marriage Project, so I am assuming that the church they were married at in Poland is not indexed yet, or they may have been from the Russia Poland, or Austria Poland area. http://bindweed.man.poznan.pl/posen/search.php I did not find any other Jakubowski/Jacoposky or Klish\KLysz in the Toledo area during the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census except the Mary Jacoboski in 1880, so I can't come up with any possible relatives with the same surname there. I thought that maybe the names of the witnesses on the marriage record, and the godparents on the baptismal records may give me some clues as to possible relatives, or friends that came from the same area in Poland, but haven't had much luck finding out more info on these people than the following information. The witnesses on the marriage record for Frank and Josephine were Franciscus Eggert and Diana?/Bianca? Taubitz. The godparents on the baptismal record for Frank and Josephine's children, Marianna and Josepha, were Joseph Mrozinski and Catherina Telke, or Pelke, and Wilhelm Telke, or Pelke, and Abur? Andrejack (Andrezack). 1870 United States Federal Census Home in 1870: Toledo Ward 7, Lucas, Ohio Post Office: Toledo Leopold Taubitz, age 46, born abt 1824 Prussia Augusta Taubitz, age 36, born abt 1834 Prussia Bianca Taubitz, age 13, born abt 1857 Ohio Oscar Taubitz, age 9, born abt 1861 Ohio ** The Taubitz family was indexed under Lawbets in the 1860 Toledo census ** Oscar Taubitz' death record in Toledo lists his father as Leopold Taubitz, born Germany, and mother's maiden name as Manzel, born Germany ** Leopold Taubitz' death record in Toledo lists his birth as November 16, 1820 in Germany 1870 United States Federal Census Home in 1870: Toledo Ward 5, Lucas, Ohio Post Office: Toledo Charley Eggart, age 20, Born abt 1850 Austria May Eggart, age 28, born abt 1842 Austria Mary Eggart, age 2, born abt 1868 Ohio Anel Eggart, age 2/12, born abt 1870 Ohio John Eggart, age 6, born abt 1864 Ohio ** Did not find a Franziscus Eggert Thank you, Ruth Pokorny

It's unlikely that they met "over there," but it's possible. Since you have the locations, except for "Wicliomica" now you can locate the (Roman Catholic?) parishes for both places. First check to see if LDS has filmed records from these parishes; if not then you should probably write to the diocesan archives asking for specific records such as marriage, baptismal and death. Parchowo was a parish. It was in the diocese of Chel~mno. The diocese doesn't exist any longer, per se, so I'd suggest you contact the Torun~ diocesan archives which is the current diocese for Parchowo. Kos~cierzyna was a parish but not necessarily the parish for "Wicliomica." It was in the diocese of Chel~mno. The diocese doesn't exist any longer, per se, so I'd suggest you contact the Torun~ diocesan archives which is the current diocese for Kos~cierzyna. These are places to start. 3. Not particularly Polish genealogy, but wondering if anyone has used Genealogy Bank and get any feedback. Got an offer for a subscription and it sounds interesting, did a quick free search and it had a few hits I'd be interested in, but is it worth the $? 2. Christine, No. 21 is 1 1/2 yrs. old. "Edmond" No. 18 definitely says daughter but the name had me stumped. I looked at the 1930 census and found the names easier to read. The children of Julius and Mary Oss are: Chester 15, EDWARD, 11, Arthur 9, Julius 6, ELEANOR 17 and Virginia 13 Jerri in CA
