I just received boarder crossing(Halifax)information today. The family(ggrandmother and children) came over with the surname Rossa(wife and children,1907). They state they are to meet their husband/father in Milwaukee but have his name as Jan Rosianski(Jan Rossa was my ggrandfather already here in Milwaukee). From baptismal records of the children I have from Poland, the surname was Rossa. Family legend has it he was running away from conscription in the Russian army. Also my grandfather had told me our name was changed. Some what confused here. Could I assume they were protecting his identity? Therefore verifying family lore? Any ideas out there?
