I am new to your list. Please forgive the length of my post, I am trying to make it as concise as possible. My Grandmother, Ida Schosske Blumberg, came from Buchwalde, East Prussia. Her brother, Herman Blumberg, gave Brighwaldy as his place of birth when he joined the Masons. There is no place Brighwaldy as far as I know. I posted to another list and several people came to the same conclusion. It was suggested to me that it could be Budwity. The same brother gave the place of birth of his mother as Holland. In church records in New York State it gives Buchwalde, East Prussia as her birthplace and her daughter, my grandmother. My Sherlock Holmes hat may be a little crooked but I have come up with the idea that it could be Buchwalde (now Buczyniec); the brother's place of birth could be Budwity; the Holland her brother mentions could mean Preussisch Holland. My GGrandmother, Henrietta Schosske Blumberg, b 10 July 1840, Buchwalde East Prussia; d July 25, 1880 in Newburgh, New York. She was married to August Blumberg. My Grandmother, Ida Blumberg Griesemer, b 12 Jan 1864 Buchwalde East Prussia; d 22 Dec 1945 in Newburgh, New York. She was married to Johann Adam Griesemer. Children: Ida, Henrietta (Minnie), Herman, August, Amos Please, does any of these names sound familiar to anyone researching this area? If any of this sounds familiar, even the names from this area, I have more details that I am willing to share. Thank you for your patience, time and consideration. Marge Clark Yes, life is good.
