I just happened to see your post, am also a Switala descendant, and am just wondering where yours were living in Poland. Mine were from in and around the village of Murczyn, in Gora (Znin) Parish, between Poznan and Bydgoszcz, which was part of the Prussian (German) partition of Poland. If your Switalas were from the same general area, I'd love to hear from you. Sincerely, Dave Wilson

But it seems you (or at least someone with your last name) already found it and posted a comment there. So I guess your best bet on continuing your search is to order a microfilm from Oborniki through your local Family History Center. Best, Andre

If you don't find them W.C., Ilinois..try the Missouri state archives online databases. I could be mistaken but seems like I have run across at least a possible variation of these names in the Sos Missouri state archives online death certs.. Give both Illinois online + Missouri online a try... Find this family on local census records.. try to discover U.S. arrival date...search shiplists.. And I babel because I still don't know where my polish lines originated...lol. So my quest has been to to to discover as much as possible in local records.. before even an attempt to read microfilm from Polish regions.. I will scout around ... I am almost certain I have come across a midwestern bio of a Matthew Geppert.

Also found 3 children born SA to Catherine Janeczek and F H R Riebe. Could not find anything for John. From this info. I would say Andrew's father was Vincent. I guess this creates more problems rather than solving anything. Regards Leonie Pawelski.

I descend from Ruth Elizabeth Firkus, Dau. of Louis Joseph Firkus, son of Mary and Frank. Probably not one of the 6 children you have listed. I believe Mary and Frank Firkus had 7 children. Most every list I have seen does not show my Gandfather, Louis Joseph Firkus. I have never found a birth record on him, but he is mentioned in the obit. of Frank Firkus as living in Weimar, CA at the time of Franks death. Louis J was in Weimar at that time as a patient at the tuberculosis sanitorium. His bday is 30 Oct 1883 according to the death cert.. But his wife said it was 27 Oct 1885 (kinda close in age to Anna Firkus)which matches with his age of 33 when married in 1918. He died 16 Mar 1931, his death cert. lists Frank Firkus of WI. and mother is Mary "?". Marriage cert. lists Frank Firkus as father and Mary Zingler as the mother, but I think that was his grandmother. He married Charlotte Eva Gengler 10 Sept 1918 in Vancouver, Washington. I don't really have any info on the Singers, but have seen both Anna Marianna and Johanna Singer listed as John Andrew's wife. Do you know anything that might answer that question for sure?
