I was interested in your posting about Wojtkowiak in Calumet. My Wojciech (George) Bomblinski worked at the C&H mines in Calumet, Michigan. So far, the best clue I have as to his origin points me to a town called Chojnica. Might you have come across the Bomblinski name in your research in that parish? Author: CarolSutton81 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.poland.wielkopolski/2027.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My name is Kenneth Olen (nee Olejniczak) my great gradmother (my father's mother's mother) was a Wojtkowiak. She married Walenty Krawczyk in the Catholic Parish in Chojnica on 28 July 1872, and her sister Josephine married Michael Frankowski in the same Parish on 14 Nov 1875. The Frankowskis immigrated to Calumet, Michigan in 1889, and the Krawczyks followed in 1891. In the 1870's Chojnica was possibly a hamlet or collection of houses on an Estate of the same name. It does not exist on any current Polish map, but was found on an old Prussian map. The area that was Chojnica is currently in Oborniki County, west-southwest of the town of Biedrusko. I have a Louise Steinke b.abt 1827 of Stieglitz of Posen, Prussia (Poland) She married Johann Zieske b. 1820 Putzig, Prussian 12 Feb 1847. They had two known children Luis or Lewis Zieske b. 1848 and August Zieske b. 1850. Louise died before 1856 as he is shown as a widower when he marries Anna Rosina Breitkreutz 6 Jan 1856. She dies soon after and he marries her sister Beata Luise Breitkreutz 30 Jan, 1857 and their first child Mary is born 4 Mar 1858 in Beaver Dam, Dodge County WI. We are trying to connect several Zieske families from WI and MN and have noticed a connection between several families in Dodge County coming from Putzig area of Prussia. Johann's parents are Michael Zieske and Anna Maria Krenz are deaceased before Johann leaves for the USA. Beata Luise's parent must come with them as we see them in 1870 census living with Johann (John) and Beata Luise (Louisa. They are Michael Breitkreutz (Bretsky) and Anna R! osina Pulseussen. Do you see any marriage connections with your STEINKE's with Zieske's or other Posen families. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
