Author: buster1431 Surnames: MARX, DRAEGAR Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.poland.wielkopolski/3548/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have recently become aware of the marriage of my great great grandparents, Samuel August MARX and Marie Elisabeth DRAEGAR in Chodziez, Poznan, in 1838. Their son, Johann Ludwig MARX, my great grandfather, was born in 1846 in Gramsdorf which I believe is now known as Bukowiec. Can anyone tell me how I might obtain a copy of the marriage certificate or a copy of the marriage register for Samuel and Marie Elisabeth. Through a distant cousin's wife I have a copy of Johann Ludwig's birth registration. How can I find out what other siblings Johann might have had, who could have been born between 1838 and 1846 or even after 1846. I look forward to any & all advice/assistance. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: birchyj Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.poland.wielkopolski/3544.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: For Catholic parishes in Posen/Poznan, you should find some clues here: http://www.posen-l.com/TownSearch.php and then click on the "browse the entire Catholic Parish database on one page" link, which takes you here: http://www.posen-l.com/CatholicDbBrowse.php Note in the upper left corner, that you can select one of two diocese. Selecting the Gniezno diocese gives you a list below of the Deaneries: Bydgoszcz Gniewkowo Inowroclaw Kcynia Krotoszyn Kruswica Lekno Naklo Olobok Pleszew Powidz Rogowo sw. Michala sw. Piotra i Pawla Apostolow sw. Trojcy Znin 3 of the last four are the specific churches in Gniezno: sw. Michala sw. Piotra i Pawla Apostolow sw. Trojcy selecting each one in turn changes the list of parishes to the immediate right. St Michael (sw. Michala) had these parishes: Duszno Gniezno (sw. Michala) Kamieniec (sw. Michala) Kruchowo Linowiec Orchowo Ostrowite Prymasowskie Strzyzewo Szydlowo Trzemeszno sw. Trojcy had these parishes: Czerniejewo Dabrowka Dziekanowice Gniezno - Eccl. Metrop. Gniezno - sw. Trojcy Gniezno - sw. Wawrzynca Grzybowo Imielno Jarzabkowo Kedzierzyn Kiszkowo Lubowo Marzenin Niechanowo Pawlowo Pobiedziska Slawno Weglewo Witkowo Wronczyn Wrzesnia Zydowo (sw. Trojcy) and St. Peter & Paul (sw. Piotra i Pawla Apostolow) had only itself, so was the main inner city parish. I believe all three churches were in the town, but 2 served the outskirts. =James Birkholz= (data was extracted by Joseph Martin and Judith Zack in 2001, database search resource by the Posen-L website) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [Wielk] Help Gniezno-LDS microfilm 2040554
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: prismlizard1 Surnames: Nowacki Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.poland.wielkopolski/3544/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have now LDS microfilm 2040554 for Gniezno. I thought it might be for the Archdiocese there, but it is a collection of smaller towns within the Archdiocese. I will look again at the LDS site to figure out which church parishes are in the Gniezno city itself, but am inquiring if anyone may know this information and relay it to me. The lead I have only says Gniezno, so I am thinking the city itself. My Nowacki family moved to Gniezno from Swarzedz about 1869. For the record LDS microfilm contains the following: Katedra; baptisms 1659-1718, 1719-1728, 1728-1791, 1794-1840; marriages 1636-1716, 1721-1727, 1728-1790, 1794-1840; deaths 1760-1790, 1794-1840. Jaktorowo baptisms 1704-1756; marriages 1704-1757; deaths 1745-1777. Lgow baptisms 1735-1790; marriages 1735-1790; deaths 1735-1795. Miescisko marriages 1754-1770; deaths 1754-1790. Kiszkowo deaths 1787-1810. Torun baptisms 1705-1730. All of the above villages are small in population according to the church records.
