If you go to the web page for the Catholic churches in Posen province in the 1800s, then type the name Zlotow, you will get two matches. If one of those is the correct town, then you are in the Archdiocese of Poznan/Gniezno. http://www.posen-l.com/TownSearch.php It appears that the town of Zlotowo was in either the Catholic parish of Bartschin in Kreis Schubin, or it was in the Catholic parish of Ostrowo a Goplo in Kreis Strelno. Again that would be in the 1800s. Today I believe that Poland has both an Archdiocese of Poznan and an Archdiocese of Gniezno because of the growth of population in both areas. They had twelve children (that I know of), most if not all born in Poland. My grandmother Wladyslawa was the eighth child; your great-grandmother Maria was the sixth; and James Wujczyk, who has also responded to this posting, is great-grandchild of Estelle, the fourth. I can trace Maria Nowicka's family back to four named individuals born between 1700 and 1720 -- in other words, nine generations of ancestors for you. Her husband Stanislaw, on the other hand, is a mystery prior to the birth of their first child. Hans-Ulrich Stypinski of Germany, who has also responded on this board, has alerted me to his family's history in a tiny village about thirty kilometers on the other side of Poznan from Gultowy. I've obtained the first of several microfilms of those parish records to see if I can prove a common ancestry. I received your message at my e-mail address too, but I thought it best to respond on the board. I'll send you an e-mail so we can correspond more directly. I'll be able to send you the Stypinski family tree as I know it. I'd appreciate your corrections of my entries and details of descendants on your side of the family.
