Nice to meet you! Here is the info I have - I have seen Alfons' name in the census searches. My Grandmother-in-law is Agnes Zgolinksi Sandahl Hansen. She has a 2 siblings, Daniel and Louise, both still living, no children either one. Dan may be the elderly man you found, since we all live near Seattle. Agnes, Dan, and Louise were all born here in Maple Valley. Their parents were Frank and Anna Zgolinski, both from Poland. Frank was born in 1885 or '86, immigrated in 1890 or '91, apparently with his parents, and naturalized in 1906. Anna was born in 1891 in Poland, immigrated in 1907, the same year they married. Frank is listed in the 1900 census as the stepson of Stanley Strychacz (b. 1875, Poland Austria, immi 1896), son of Marry (b. 1867 or '68, Poland Russia, immi 1891. All of this from the 1900, 1910, 1920, and 1930 census records. I've looked unsuccessfully in the Ellis Island records and the Ancestry.com immigration records, for both Zgolinski and Strychacz - no luck. In the 1910 census, I found John Zgolinski, wife Kathrina, daughter Agnes, stepsons Charles and Frank. John was 66 at this time. They can be seen on image 21, ED#26 in Other Townships, King County, WA. So can Frank and Anna, and the Strychaczes, although the name is spelled differently than in other records and Mrs. Strychacz - Frank's mother - is recorded as "Maria", I think. Anyway, the 1900 census shows the Strychaczes in Scranton Ward 11, PA; 1910 shows them all in Franklin Pct, King County, WA; 1920 shows Frank, Anna, and 3 children in Renton City, King Co, WA. I do not find John or any of the rest of his family, although I don't know his stepson's surname. I haven't talked much with our Zgolinski's about the family, but that's my goal for the next week or so. Let's hope we are part of one family! I'll keep you up on what I find, so please let me know, too. Cyndi

My father, Alfons Zgolinski, immigrated to NY after WWII in 1952. He spent 7 years in England before that. He was the only one of his family to leave Poland, except for an uncle who left for the U.S. around the turn of the century (which would correspond with your dates give or take). No one ever knew what happened to that uncle. My father was born in 1909 in a small village called Borzykowo, which is east of Poznan. His father had I think 3 brothers. They were well-to-do farmers. Some of the family lived in Gniezno. Unfortunately, my father passed away in 2001, but a couple of my uncles are still alive and my mother knows quite a lot about the family history. Please email me and I will dig into this to see if there is a connection. If you are indeed relations, and I think you are because Zgolinski is a very uncommon name even in Poland, then we can tell you a lot about your family. It is large and interesting! . We did a search for Zgolinskis in the U.S. a while ago and found only an elderly man on the West Coast whose mother and wife were dead and who had no children. We thought it was a dead end. It gets more and more interesting.....Please do email me. My name is Liz, and I have two brothers, Albert and Andrew. Al and I live in NYC area, and Andy lives in Mexico City. Hope to talk to you soon!
I dont know if I can help, but a woman in Racine, WI traced me from her g-g-g grandfather was related to my ggg grandfather somehow. His name was Waclaw Lewandowski. But changed the name to Vincent Levandoski. These name changes make things REALLY difficult but also check for "Levandoski". Theres some in RACINE, WI i know for sure.

His father's name was Michael, and he had two sons and a daughter; Richard (my grandfather), Margaret (Mary), and Chester (all three children by his first wife, Margaret). I know he had children with his second wife, but i'm not sure of their names.
Hi Dave: From what you wrote, I'm guessing that were not related, my relatives were prior to 1900. Norm
Norm, Im not sure! My grandfathers name is Anthony M. Andrzejak. He was born in Poznan and lived in Bydgoscz, then after WW2 he moved to Michigan. He invited my dad to come over to the US in 1949. My grandfather changed his last name to Andrews and later moved to Florida where he died in 1976. He was married in MI for a while but did not have children with that wife I am aware of. I do not know if he had childen in the US. My grandfather had only one child in Poland that I know of, which is my dad born in 1934. As far as I know, my grandfather never lived in WI. Only MI and FL. Although, my grandfather was in russian prison camp for about a year someplace in Sibera and there was a rumour he met a polish speaking family in a small village near there and he fathered a child with the daughter in the village. if anyone knows of an "Andrzejak" someplace in the middle of Sibera I could be related to them! haha

Her father Frank (b. 1885 or '86) immigrated from somewhere in Poland in 1890 or '91. His mother was Maria; apparently his father (name unknown yet) died before 1900, since Frank is listed as the step-son of Stanley Strychasz (?, immigrated 1896) in the 1900 census. Agnes' mother was Annie (Anna?, b. 1892, immi. and naturalized 1907). I have just started on the family genealogy, so I haven't gotten further than the census reports. If your Zgolinskis are related to mine, please let me know what you've found. And if you have tips for finding marriage, death, birth, immigration and naturalization records, I would really appreciate hearing them. I hope this helps you. By the way, we live near Seattle - my Zgolinski's have lived here since before 1912. Frank and his mother and step-father are listed in Scranton Ward 11, PA.
