He served in the British navy, and according to their records was born in Augustow in 1825, of an English father! The name of course does not seem English, nor the spelling truly Polish! I have discovered many descendants - distant cousins - in England, but no one seems to know much about his origins. Any advice on how to find relevant information would be greatly appreciated!!
