Since Franciszek Karwowski was the godfather of Jan Niedzwiecki of Grajewo in 1842, I'm guessing that Franciszek would have been somewhere in his 20s as friend of the family or some such relationship. That would have made him born somewhere in the 1820s. Therefore, he could very well have been the brother of Ferdynand. Isn't that possible? Unfortunately, I do not have the actual Russian record for Jan's birth. The translation is from my Polish researcher, but he has not been able to send me a copy of the record. Still, at, I think, the Polish Genealogical Society of America Web site, there should be available the addresses for writing the different churches, and Grajewo is likely one of those places so you could possibly write for that record. Let me know if you get anywhere, and I'll let you know whether I ever get the actual Russian record.
