My great-grandfather Jan (John) Gosc first came to the US in 1899 and listed is residence as Cziony in the province of Kalisky. Then in 1911, his brother Wincenty Gosc came to the US and listed his residence as Jeleniow. Meanwhile, Jan went back to Poland, married, and returned to the US in 1912 and listed his residence as Jalowesy. I tried to find a historical atlas that listed these place names, but the only place I could find was listed as: "Zarzecze Jeleniewski a village on the river Hancza Czarna, Suwalki district, township Pawlow, Jeleniewo parish. About 15 km from Sulwaki, it has 11 houses and 103 residents. In 1827 it had 11 houses and 65 residents. Source: Slownik Geograficzny Krolestwa Polskiego - Warsaw [1895, vol. 14]" Thanks again.
