They were too funny in their traits not to be all related. Will keep you in the loop on information. I've been a bit slow on it lately...excuse: dealing w/ kids and stuff in the fall months. I have just begun a serious hunt on this side of the family, so I don't have a lot, but I do have names and I'll try to get some dates from my mom and a cousin who may have this. My mom has always said this side of the family never shared much about their upbringing or the "old country." They spoke Polish. Glad to find some relatives!

Your great grandma, Rose, came to America in 1894 through Ellis Island. She was born in Poland in 1878. That is all I have on Rose. If you have any dates of the children, their spouses and details of Eddies murder that would be very interesting. If you would like me to snail mail you a copy of the family tree, as I have it so far, please let me know. I am trying to find the exact link, but we are cousins, I do know that much, so if you have Rose's parents name, that would be a gold mine for me. Thanks so much for writing and I am

I don't want to welcome you to the family though...since you've always been in the family! Just welcome to finding us here. Like I told Joann...after so long of finding nothing on the Arasim's...I figured it was time to make a name thread...and bingo! Arasim's! Yes, I'm interested..and I'm sure Joann is. I know in talking with my MIL, the Bonk name sounded soooo familiar. She said that when I read the obit with Rose's name in it...she was like..."Hey! When we were up visiting, Jack (her hubby, John Leo Arasim) had to go to some "family friend's" funeral. That was w/ the last name Bonk." She was a bit ticked that hubby never acknowledged that they were relatives now in hindsight. So....that family line is funny to figure out. I can help you with some links...and you in turn will have to outline the lines on your connections. We can do this via email directs if that's easier for you. Joann and I were doing that...plus then trying to send snailmail links. We'd love the company in uncovering this side of the family. Give me a week...and I can get you up to date...and also I owe Joann and update. Again...great to have you join the hunt! K

Then in 1911, his brother Wincenty Gosc came to the US and listed his residence as Jeleniow. Meanwhile, Jan went back to Poland, married, and returned to the US in 1912 and listed his residence as Jalowesy. Maybe I missed it on the manifest, but I don't recall seeing it. Maybe you may have another document, where it is shown. I checked my phone book for Zarzecze, Jeleniewo, Podwysokie-Jeleniewskie and found no one with a name beginning with Gosc with or without diacritical (accent) marks. I have a phone book for 2002 for the powiat (county) of Suwalski. I have an idea, if this Wincenty Gosc is your ancestor, you could write to the archives in Suwalki and ask them to check to see if he was born in the Jeleniewo parish and/or gmina. He would have been born about 1873, according to age of 38 in 1911. Those records are on microfilm with the LDS or you can get a copy of his birth record from the archives. Either way it will take time to get the film. The archives charge will be more. They charge $20.00 and hour to do searches and the document will be about $4.00. Rose Arasim married Joseph Bonk (I believe in Ironwood). They had several children: Joe, Mary(Marie,my grandmother), Sarah, Frances, Louie and Stella. Joseph was killed in a mining accident. Rose then married Peter (?) Cybulski and they had Eddie, Julia, Peter and Ann. All of their children are deceased. Ann was the last, she passed away this past spring. I've been told Eddie was murdered in Cicero, MI. I don't know for sure where they came from, but I believe Poland. I would love to know the origin of the name and any other information anyone has.

There were no people named Olikowski in the old province of Bialostockie that year. The name Olkowski was found in Bialostockie ... 135 according to this study. There were 35 in the province of Suwalskie north of Bialostockie. To the west of Suwalskie was Olstyznskie, and there were 198 there. The province with the most was Warszawskie, with 347. In view of the prominence of this spelling, I think the surname may have been misspelled, after leaving Poland. In 2002, another study was done. These are the results of that study. His name was Witold Borowski and somehow he ended up in Baltimore, MD. I have very little information other that. I was wondering if you have any knowledge if he's related to your family. It seems interesting that the surname and city are the same. If you have any information to share, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I need to find the parents of Johann Gottlieb HILLMER who married Anna Rosina POLTIN. I would also like to find out about his children: Breslau, Lehmwasser (now Glinica), Kreis Waldenburg, Schlesien, Germany (now Poland); Das Taufbuch von 1795 - 1807 fehlt im evang. Lehmwasser (now Glinica) was part of Germany until 1945 when it became part of Poland. I have this information on one son: M JOHANN GOTTLIEB HILLMER Birth: 18 Jun 1801 Lehmwasser, Schlesien, Preussen.
